Easts Underachievers capped off a strong season with victory in Sunday’s final at Kilbirnie 1, claiming the Senior Division 2 timed cricket title with a two-wicket win over Stokes Valley 2nd XI.

It marks a standout campaign for the side, having already secured the T20 title earlier in the season. While they narrowly missed out on taking the overall grade, the double success in both formats reflects the quality and consistency the lads showed throughout the year.

Well deserved recognition for a true legend of the mighty Easts!

On Thursday, New Zealand Cricket announced that our Gregor Fountain would be receiving the Sir Jack Newman Award for 2025/26. The premier award recognising an outstanding junior administrator for their service to junior cricket.

Gregor has been running our Junior club for a number of years now, and has carried on despite his 2 boys having moved into secondary school cricket such is his dedication to providing positive cricketing experiences to the youth of the Eastern Suburbs. From Friday nights and have a go super smash sessions to Saturdays where hundreds of kids are enjoying our great game, Gregor is at the center of it all.

We are so proud of you Gregor, and grateful you continue to do what you do best for the enjoyment of our youth. Congratulations, Gregor.

Massive congratulations to Easts legends Richard Sheehan, Aaron Thompson, and Scott Pender on their success in the IPT50s Final vs Auckland today! The fellas secured the 3 peat today with a big win, along with Sheeno being picked to tour the UK with the NZ50s later in the year!

TEAM NAMING FRIDAY

The 1st XI take on Taita in the second round of the Pearce Cup. We welcome back Adam Wood and Himanshu Batra back into the team for this game. We also have young all-rounder Aston Burwell-Garratt playing his first premier game for the club off the back of some good performances for the 2nds. Go well mate!

The 2nd XI take on Vic Uni in a rematch of last weekends one day final in their first timed cricket fixture of the season. Keep an eye out for a young Ankur Bassi getting behind the stumps with the gloves!

The 1st XI start off their two-day campaign at home against Upper Hutt. We welcome back Hunter Taylor at the top of the order from the 17s national tournament. The 2nd XI are against Petone Riverside also at Kilbirnie Park.
