HALF CENTURY | 50 CAPS - Zac JARVIS
This past weekend, not only did your Northern Águilas celebrate an 8-goal win against Vikings HC, the club also celebrated the 50th senior cap of clubman Zac Jarvis, who becomes just the 10th Águila to take part in 50 competitive games.
Oh yeah, and he scored 10 goals in his 50th game, not a bad day for Zac if you ask us.
Zac is an international junior, who has represented New Zealand on multiple occasions, joined the Águilas part-way through the 2018 season on a one-year contract, only to extend said contract by 4 years to the end of 2022 at the end of the same season.
We got the opportunity to ask Zac some questions about his time at the club:
Q: What was it that made you choose to sign for the Águilas as your first senior club, having returned from New Caledonia with the Youth National Squad?
ZJ: I was approached by the club President, Tim Rayner, who asked what I was doing with my weekends and roped me in to playing handball. It was Tim who signed me up to the Águilas himself as he correctly saw a lot of potential in me, from that day on I haven’t looked back.
Q: You’ve had a taste of success in the form of the 2018 National Championships and have represented before, but what are your personal goals for the next year or two, both here at the club and beyond?
ZJ: I am looking to get back into winning ways with the Wellington League and Club Champs this year. Only trying to improve to ready us for bigger and better things.
We at the Northern Águilas would like to further congratulate Zac on this feat and cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.
