McDonald's Kihikihi Speedway, Cnr Oliver & Grey Street, Kihikihi (2026)

Kihikihi Speedway Club was established in 1954 when permission was granted to build a basic race track on the Kihikihi Domain. The club is still at that original location, having upgraded the venue for the benefit of spectators and competitors. In the early years the club focused on the open wheel and bike classes. The concrete wall was built in the early 90’s and a wider range of speedway classes

were added to the schedule. Today Kihikihi Speedway contracts Saloons, Super Saloons, Superstocks, Stockcars, Youth Ministocks, Midgets, 1/4 Midgets, Sprintcars & Sidecars. Kihikihi raced predominately on Sunday afternoons until the installation of track lights in 2014, allowing the club to race on Saturday evenings. Adults: $25
Family (2 adults + maximum 4 children): $50
Children 5 years & under: Free
Children 6 years to 16 years: $15
Students with ID: $15
Seniors with Gold Card: $15

On behalf of the committee, drivers and fans of McDonalds Kihikihi Speedway, we would like to wish our very own life member, referee and lifetime supporter, Grant Cottrell all the best for a speedy recovery.

Grant has a few passions in his life and speedway and referring rugby are high on his list.

Many of you know that Grant is a very respected top level grassroots rugby ref. On Saturday, while reffing a game, he had a medical event which led him to be admitted to Waikato Hospital. At this stage, we don’t know too much and respect the family’s wishes for privacy.

From KK, we wish you a speedy recovery Grant.

We have made the disappointing decision, due to the ongoing weather issues experienced at our track over the last month, to cancel our race meeting this Saturday. Unfortunately, this also ends our race season. We would like to thank our loyal sponsors, dedicated drivers, reliable volunteers and devoted fans. We can’t wait to see you all again for the 2026/2027 season.

The opening meeting will be our Fireworks Spectacular on 31st October 2026. Put it in your calendars now!
