It’s easy to get so caught up in the drive to win that we lose sight of the real magic of sport: the people.

Yesterday, our Kihikihi Invitational crew decided to trade their table tennis bats for pickleball paddles and pool cues—just laughing, with lots of banter and enjoying each other's company. It’s a special thing to watch.

These players travel from all over the Waikato and beyond every Tuesday to train hard, but over time, those training sessions have turned into a genuine community.

They’ve become friends, and honestly, that’s exactly what sport is supposed to be about.

Had an absolute blast with the Tuesday night Kihikihi Invitational crew yesterday!

We swapped the table tennis bats for some Pickleball action at Padel Park Hamilton, then capped it all off with dinner and a few games of 8 ball.

Such a great way to spend some quality time together away from the tables!

Big news! Our club is excited to affiliate to “Te Manawa”, the newest Regional Table Tennis Association and endorsed by Table Tennis New Zealand covering Kihikihi, Manawaru, Matamata, Rotorua, Hawera, New Plymouth, Taupo, Papamoa, Thames, Coromandel, Ohope, and Gisborne!

Some of our players are heading to Christchurch to represent Te Manawa at the 2026 Nationals this year, and we’re going to look great. Check out the new sublimated playing kit below.

If you’d like to grab a tee ($50) or a tracksuit top ($105), please send me a private message ASAP—the order is going in tomorrow!

Exciting news for the New Zealand Table Tennis Community.

We will have players from our club that will be proudly representing Te Manawa Table Tennis Association at the 2026 National Teams Event this year in Christchurch.

Table Tennis New Zealand is proud to announce that Te Manawa Table Tennis Association has officially become an affiliated member of Table Tennis New Zealand, effective from 1 July 2026.
