🎳☀️ **AND WE’RE OFF! The 2026/27 bowling season is officially underway!** ☀️🎳

Kerikeri Bowling Club kicked off the new season on Sunday 6 September with our opening tournament — and the weather certainly decided to join the party! Warm sunshine, blue skies and just enough wind to make sure nobody could blame *all* their wayward bowls on themselves! 😂🌬️

Club President Max Hamilton welcomed our members and visitors, while Far North Bowls President Jill Fraser welcomed bowlers from across the Far North and gave a special welcome and encouragement to our junior bowlers taking part. 👏

A fantastic 22 teams took to the green for the 100% Home Errol Rogers-sponsored tournament, with teams travelling from Okaihau, Kawakawa, Kaikohe, Coopers Beach, RSA Kaitaia, Opononi, Waimamaku and Kerikeri Bowling Clubs.

🎯 The official start of play:
The first jack was delivered by Lyn McKeating, followed by the opening bowl from Jean Dunn. And from there, the bowls were rolling, the measuring tapes were out and the competition was on!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day happen — our tournament organisers, greenkeepers, bar and kitchen teams. Your hard work behind the scenes is what makes days like this such a success. 👏👏

It was a fantastic day of bowls, sunshine, competition and good company — exactly how a new season should begin!

Now the important question… who's going to be the first to blame the wind this season? 😆

Far North Centre Opening Triples Tournament was held on Sunday 23 August. A great day bowling for 22 teams, although the wind did come up in the afternoon.

Saturday afternoon bowls Kerikeri Bowling Club. A great turnout last Saturday. This event will continue every Saturday apart from when the club is hosting a tournament - we will keep you informed of these dates.

KERIKERI MOBILITY TRIPLES

The Keri Mobility Pairs tournament was held on Sunday 19 July in fine conditions at Kerikeri Bowling Club with a very good turnout of players - 19 teams.

Congratulations to Lee Exler and Dave William who won all four matches and took the title.

2nd: Dan Amosa and Matiu Weepu (4 wins, 44 points)

On Saturday 6 June we welcomed bowlers from a wide number of clubs including Silverstream, Arapahoe, Cambridge, Hikurangi, Kawakawa, Opononi, Okaihau, Church Rd and Kaikohe who played in our annual Otawa Trust Family Mixed Fours. We had a beautiful lunch organised by our very hardworking ladies Lyn and Jan. Thankyou so much to our sponsor Ra Te Amo and his family trust for a very successful and enjoyable tournament day.

The weather held out for us and we played 4 games of 8 ends. At the end of the day the results were:

1st: 4 wins. The Norman family from Okaihau, Faye, Rob, David and Darryl.
2nd: 3 wins. 49 points. The Haynes family from Okaihau, David, Kate, Regan and Dylan.
3rd: 3 wins 43 points. Team Webb from Arapohue, Kerikeri, Okaihau. Marty, Viv and Bevan Webb and Danny Roberts
4th: 3 wins 34 points, Lewis Welch, Ian Dunn, Helen Dean, Jenny Taylor.

Winner of Champ of Champ 1st Year Singles - Bowls Far North Centre

A big congratulations to Tracey Taylor winning the Far North 1st year Champ of Champs in Kaitaia on 6 June 2026. She beat Crystal from Opononi in the final 21-13.

Also, well done to Leonie Bell, who came third in the Junior 1-5 category.
