Outstanding performance! Our junior angler Van Talmage is excelling at the Youth Nationals, having landed a 7.5kg snapper on 6kg line aboard Harvester 2.0. Currently leading Section B for the heaviest snapper. We’ll be keeping an eye on this competition.

NZSFC Youth Nationals Weekend Round-Up

Kāwhia is making some serious noise

In the High School division, Ali Sanders is sitting right up near the top of the overall standings, leading multiple sections including gurnard and tuna, and consistently scoring across the board. Close behind, Riley Bird is also pushing hard, leading the mahi mahi section and adding strong points in tuna and snapper.

Josh La Franchie is another standout, leading the blue cod section and sitting inside the top overall rankings - a huge effort.

That strength carries through to our Primary anglers as well. George Karl is leading the gurnard section and featuring strongly across other categories, while Hamiora Honetana has taken control of the all tackle snapper with an impressive fish.

Across both divisions, it’s not just results - it’s consistency, depth, and a real team effort.

Kāwhia is in a strong position 👊
