Ok… since I’m back in the flow of things again and getting back into taking on PT clients and classes.. I thought I’d share this as a post (only on insta) not confident enough for FB
Anyway, as you know I own a gym, something I have put my heart and soul into over the past almost 5 years. And not going to lie. I’m bloody proud of myself! I could go on but I’ll leave that for another post.
I’ll try use this page as more of a journey rather than just fitness.
I did my first year competing in 2022. More to support my fellow gym athletes. I loved it. My body thrived, but as you know following a restrictive diet can take a toll.
I have some underlying bowel issues as it is. So a clean diet has always been important .
In 2023 I had a pretty ‘sh*t’ (pun intended)🤣 year with my health,
I had started off well and competed in may.. then I went through some intense stress and developed an intestinal bleed.
After a few diagnostic procedures, lots of bloods, iron infusions and a change in diet, I have never really felt better..
first photo was only 1 week after competing in Nabba Nationals. 2nd photo is last week.
You might not see a difference. But I feel it.. 1st is sitting low body fat. 2nd I’m abit higher. But.. I’m not carrying that inflammation and water retention. My periods are regulated my skin is better, my joints are better, my mood, energy and overall health is so much better. I’ll try do a comparison of when I’m in my ‘unwell’ stage too..
but with the help of my nutritionist we healed. We grew stronger, happier and healthier!
My weight is nice and stable and yes I still fluctuate with my cycle and still have endo and pcos issues along with a very sensitive digestive system but no where near what it is.
My hormones are happy, my tummy is happy..
I don’t overtrain, I don’t do heaps of cardio I’m overall in better condition.
I don’t have a focus of getting on stage or benching 100kg (although that does sound cool) and competing is tempting.
But the reason I am in this industry is about what our bodies can do.. not what they look like.. and to be honest..
hardest thing is to press ‘post’ 😂

Things I have learnt in the past 4 years…
I was a personal trainer/group fitness instructor.. passionate about my job, my clients and my family. I had a great balance! I helped people achieve fitness/ weight goals, I helped our older generation with instructing classes in rest homes, for dementia, Parkinson’s and more..
I worked with kids in school holiday programs doing sport, instructed boxing and yoga for teens, and I even volunteered with girl guiding..
for me to grow my fitness business, I decided to buy a gym.. so I can help more people in my community and offer opportunities for trainers, groups and create an awesome environment for our community to become more active and connected..
I have achieved that too! And grown it to an awesome space. And I’m proud..
but buying a gym I didn’t realise how much my role changed.. I no longer PT, I only instruct minimal classes..
with no experience, I become a Manager, accountant, marketing manager, security, receptionist, cleaner, website developer, the list goes on… for a business that operates 24/7 and with all that I’m still learning! As well as being a busy mum with active kids, (and Aunty/mum), wife, housekeeper, taxi, cook… etc… and an athlete ❤️
I have a few minor health issues.. that a lot of women live with.. I can’t digest meat, eggs, dairy or other high protein foods, so my body thrives on the clean diet of fish and veggies..
I don’t absorb iron, so I have iron infusions regularly,
I have classic endo and PCOS which plays havoc on fluid retention, pain, periods..

But I’m happy, healthy and love what I do!
And with the support of my awesome friends and family.. opportunities are endless!

Having a business coach .consulting has taught me how to prioritise business tasks, and is helping reach its potential !

Having great trainers on board working the gym floor such as and with a couple more apprentices coming through we can keep growing our gym community!

I seem to get caught up in the here and now.. so this is just me taking a look back to say.. yep I’m growing…
