Living the Dream
I have dreamed of having my own sports shop in Katikati since 2004. Being Mum to 3 sport fanatics it was impossible to buy gear for squash, rugby, cricket, basketball, etc etc locally. In fact I always had to travel to Tauranga, sound familiar? I met Mike in 2016, another sports fanatic, to add to my family. Mike has been a sports administrator for nearly 30 years, in cricket, rugby and tennis, and with my extensive history in squash and our combined love of fishing we are a perfect match. In August 2018, over a couple of beers at the Katikati Squash club, the idea of setting up shop began. The very next day a racket stringing machine was ordered and we have not looked back. Fire Up Sports opened it’s doors for the very first time on 7 September 2019.
We are both very passionate about sports, especially our local sports, and we want to provide our community with good quality, competitively priced gear. Our range will be determined by you, our customers. We have started with what we believe is a basic range, and already we have been asked to get into darts, ammunition, hockey, dog tracking collars, all of which we are actively pursuing. Your input and feedback is critical to our survival so come and visit, tell us what you want, and we will do our utmost to add it to our range.
