WSA Guidance - COVID Protection Framework RED
As you all know, New Zealand has now moved to Red in the Covid Protection Traffic Light System. The WSA Executive met to review the impact of the framework on the weekly competition and how best to manage this.
To remain inclusive means that The competitions will operate without the My Vaccine Pass requirement (No CVCs). This means that the number of participants and spectators are restricted to 25 in each designated area. The diamond is considered to be one designated area.
Spectators are required to maintain at least a two meter distance from the participants and must be no more than 25. Dugouts are for players and team officials only.
For an open diamond, use participant bags or cones if you have them, to mark out the dugout and spectators maintain a 2 meter distance.
The other key requirement is to prevent (as much as possible) intermingling between diamonds and the spectators at those diamonds. We ask that players and the spectators leave their allocated park via the nearest exit, wear masks and move through exits as quickly as possible to minimise congregation.
Where necessary, we will also change the draw to spread the games out so please re-check this.
As usual, everyone is asked to scan, mask and stay home if unwell.
Below is a snapshot of the guidance.
The framework is based on the Sport New Zealand guidance and we have also looked at what other codes are doing within our region to ensure we're taking a consistent approach.
Please be aware that The Executive are still working on the logistics for the Premier One Wellington Competition scheduled for Saturday 5 February and the Colin Ward Tournament which is scheduled for Sunday 13 February. We expect that the number of spectators for these two events would exceed the No-CVC requirement of 25 per designated area and are still considering the logistics of that.
This will be finalised by Monday morning and will send further communications then.
Stay safe, be kind, follow the guidelines so we can all keep playing 🥎🥎
