There's nothing better than sharing a hunting adventure with family.

We were thrilled to welcome back returning hunter Scott, who brought his son along to experience everything Flax Hills has to offer. From time in the field to stories around the lodge, it was a trip packed with great memories and quality time together.

Thanks for hunting with us again, Scott. We loved having you both here and can't wait to see you back in New Zealand.

An American legacy, thriving in New Zealand 🇺🇸➡️🇳🇿
In 1905, US President Theodore Roosevelt gifted ten American Wapiti to New Zealand, with eight more added by the NZ Government. Released into the untouched wilderness of Fiordland, they became the foundation of one of the most unique Elk herds in the world.

Over decades, these American Elk adapted to extreme country, interbreeding with red deer and forming the legendary Fiordland “Wapiti.” After surviving government culling and the helicopter “deer wars” of the 1970s–80s, the herd endured.

Today, New Zealand’s Elk remain a rare connection between American hunting heritage and wild southern landscapes — a true trans-Pacific hunting legacy.
