Play week competition!

Play Week Aotearoa 2025 is all about celebrating the value play brings to tamariki, whānau and communities across Aotearoa. Play gives us freedom and chances to take risks. It’s how our tamariki build a life-long love of being active, make sense of the world around them, get creative, build friendships, and learn skills.

Be part of Play Week and watch your tamariki thrive!

Huge thank you to Dave Lyons and his team at Kiwi Surf Experience Kaikoura these Tamariki had an awesome time on Saturday, not only did they gain knowledge from these brilliant instructors but also got to surf next to pods of dolphins who wanted to show the Tamariki their flips and tricks. For anyone here in the community who wants to better their surfing skills or gain more knowledge I highly recommend getting in contact with Dave they did a great job with these Tamariki. Thank you again Dave!

ITS BACK - TŪ MANAWA FUNDING opens on the 12th of Feb.

Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa provides funding for programmes or projects that activate and deliver play, active recreation and sport experiences for tamariki and rangatahi.

Aligned with our vision of “Equitable participation opportunities and experiences so all young people have equal opportunities to be physically active,” we are interested in programmes or projects that aim to address inequity and provide equal opportunities for young people to be physically active. Our 2024 priorities will be towards:
- Tamariki and Rangatahi in lower socioeconomic (higher deprivation) communities
- Girls and young women (5-18 years)
- Māori tamariki and rangatahi
- Disabled tamariki and rangatahi

If you have a project idea in mind, we have a three-step process for you to follow.

Step 1: Read up all about the Tū Manawa Fund on our website https://www.sporttasman.org.nz/Funding/tu-manawa-2

Step 2: Contact one of the Sport Tasman team listed on our Tū Manawa page (using the above link) to kōrero/talk about your project to see how it aligns.

Step 3: After talking to one of the Sport Tasman team, and if they think your project sounds great, submit your application.

We can't wait to hear about all the project ideas.

Please email saraya.b@sporttasman.org.nz if you are interested as there are limited spots available.
