Well Team,

Unfortunately I won’t be making it to Tapanui this week for coaching and the chase for my first course record. I was on the waiting list for an invite into the Cisco Series in Taupō, and got the call last night an opportunity I simply couldn’t turn down.

Trying to book flights only three days out was an absolute nightmare… the prices were nearly the same as flying to the UK! 🤦‍♂️ But I’m grateful for the chance to be in the field and mix it with the big dogs.

However, I will be at Bluff to start the series on the 25th only to head away again for two weeks on the road competing in Charles Tour events at Muriwai (Auckland) and Ngāmotu (New Plymouth). After that, we’ll be right into the Southland mission.

Watch this space, whānau we’re only just getting started.

Apologies for the delay, I know you’re all waiting to see me shoot over par (me too) 😂

Southland get ready, because this is going to be something special.

I’m hitting the road with one goal in mind: to take on every golf course in Southland on their competition days and hunt down some of the toughest course records in the region. Every stop is a new challenge, every round is a shot at history, and every swing will be captured on camera so you can follow the journey from start to finish.

But this is bigger than just chasing numbers. This is about celebrating the incredible golf clubs we have across Southland, bringing players together, and creating something exciting at every venue. Before each afternoon field tees off, I’ll be opening up a limited number of coaching spots. Your chance to sharpen your game before the pressure is on. Then it’s game time: tee it up in the comp, attack the course, and see if the record books are ready to be rewritten.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I may already hold course records at Mossburn, Dipton, and Riversdale — so now the challenge is to see how many more can be added to the list.

First up: Slightly out of Southland, Tapanui this Saturday.
Then, hopefully, Bluff is next on the hit list.

Course records, competition pressure, road trip vibes, and every shot on film — this is the Southland Course Record Chase.
Come along for the ride… it’s going to be epic.

One of my regulars, Mel Heddershaw, has set some big goals so we’re making some big changes 💪⛳️

We’re going for a complete tear down and rebuild of the golf swing over 10 sessions in 10 weeks. Starting with a strong focus on club path and low point control to improve strike consistency.

Using a mix of drills and training aids to build the right feels and patterns early 👌

Awesome start to the rebuild Mel great commitment to the process. Looking forward to what the next 9 weeks bring 👊

What a day out at Riversdale Golf Club 🔥🏌️‍♂️ Had an absolute blast coaching a great group of members and seeing some serious progress across the board!

Massive shoutout to Iles Baker who dialled it in during a lesson, then headed off to Waikaia and got the job done winning the medal in Dad’s Army 💪🏆 That’s what it’s all about!

Really appreciate all the support today team awesome energy all round. I hope you enjoyed your lessons, keep working on those feels, and I’ll catch up with you all again soon 👊

And this is exactly why we coach.

Michael Sharon Withers came in today absolutely mortified with her game. Confidence gone, feeling like nothing was working and not really sure where to turn.

After a solid hour on the range breaking the swing down, working through some simple feels, and building a new pre-shot routine she can trust, things started to turn around.

Then came the moment every coach loves — the smile, the relief, and that spark of confidence coming back.

Golf can be a tough game, but helping someone go from frustration to believing in their game again is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching.

This is why we do it. 🏌️‍♀️👏

Great time out on course with Helen today at Otatara Golf Club 🏌️‍♀️

We spent some time dialing in her numbers and working on better distance control — one of the keys to lowering scores and building confidence out on the course. It’s amazing how much clarity you can get when you really understand how far each club goes.

Awesome effort today Helen, the progress was great to see 👏
