The leader of the BLD has given us a bit of insight into what has led him to this point. Being captivated by the likes of former mentor JK Moody as a young student, joining SPW wanting to become one of the best and then achieving exactly that.

Claiming he did Moody a favour when he supposedly put him out to pasture at Halloween Haunting, allowing him an opportunity to ride off into the sunset but Moody just couldn’t let go!

SPW clearly isn’t big enough for the both of them, so the question is who will come out on top when these two lock horns at the Southern Rumble?!

Battlelines saw JK Moody address the SPW faithful, stating that Halloween Haunting’s Lockdown was supposed to be his retirement match, at least until Azza decided to poke the bear! The Prodigy brutally attacked his mentor after the bell, leaving him laying, and assuming leadership of the BLD.

Moody says Azza can steal his moves and his boys, but despite everything he will NEVER measure up to the Top Boy! Apparently Azza had heard enough, as he ambushed Moody once again. Leading Moody to state that SPW clearly isn’t big enough for both of them, and lay down the challenge for the Southern Rumble

Here's a little info for the uninitiated:

Fight Nights is a raw, stripped-back wrestling experience showcasing the current and future stars of Southern Pro Wrestling.

SPW Fight Nights focus on what matters most: IN RING ACTION!
Don't expect all the lights, screens, and production of our flagship events — but do expect 100% effort from every wrestler who steps through the curtain.

▪️Hosted at the SPW Academy (70 Liddell Street) for the very first time. It's a gym, not a traditional venue, so bring a warm layer for those cold Invercargill winter nights!

▪️Tickets available on the door only (cash or EFTPOS).

▪️Reserved tickets will be held until 6:30pm (30 minutes before bell time), after which they'll be released to any walk-up crowd.

▪️Limited parking at the Academy, with plenty of additional parking available nearby on Tyne Street and Forth Street.

Our first ever Southern Rumble took place 10 years ago, almost to the day! This was a historic night which saw the debut of future SPW legends such as Will Power, K9 and JK Moody!

However on this occasion it was Aussie powerhouse Slade Mercer who picked up the victory, and earned himself an SPW Championship match against then-champion Hooligan Marcus Kool in Queenstown the very next night!

Moody’s meteoric rise to the top of NZ wrestling began at the 2017 Southern Rumble, when he outlasted the likes of Will Ospreay, and last eliminated his then-Deadly Sins brother K9 to win the big one!

The next generation of SPW talent had well and truly arrived, as Moody went on to defeat T-Rex at Halloween Haunting to claim his first SPW Championship win at only 22 years old!

Nearly ten years on, Moody is staring down the barrel of potentially leaving the company he has helped build, as he and Azza square off in a Loser Leaves SPW match! Will Moody continue to prove he is the best in the country, or will his former prodigy put him out to pasture?!
