Congratulations to the Southern Stars U13 Marching Team – winners of the 2026 Southland Sharks Sports Competition! 🎉🏀

We were blown away by the competition response this year. We received 137 nominations from across Southland – a huge increase on last year and a reflection of the incredible people, teams and organisations in our community.

The Southern Stars U13s stood out for their dedication, teamwork and determination. After training tirelessly throughout the season, they recently achieved outstanding results at the Marching New Zealand National Championships, including being crowned NZ Champion Display Team and placing 3rd in the NZ Champion Technical Team competition.

As part of their prize, the team will enjoy a special Southland Sharks meet-and-greet next week, with delicious catering from Liquid Café, private hydroslide access, goodie bags and more.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination. The calibre of entries was exceptional, and we're proud to celebrate the amazing people doing great things across Murihiku Southland.
