We have a rather large supply of lost property at the turf in Invercargill! The turf is open every day after school this week, so please have a look to see if anything belongs to you. Player Expressions of Interest – National Hockey Championship 2026

Southland Hockey is calling for player expressions of interest for the 2026 National Hockey Championship.

Players must be turning 18 or older in 2026 to be eligible.

Today we say goodbye and thank you to our Development Officer Will Dickey as he finishes up with Southland Hockey and heads north to begin a new role with Wellington Hockey.

Over the past three and a half years, Will has made a huge contribution to hockey across Southland, particularly through his work with our school competitions and his involvement coaching and supporting players in our representative programmes.

We thank Will for his passion, energy, and commitment to growing the game throughout the region. Safe to say he’s grown up a little during his time with us too… as this photo from his very first day in the role shows 😅

We’re excited to open registrations for the 2026 Southland U16 Hockey Programme 🏑

This programme provides a clear development and representative pathway for players born in 2010, 2011, and 2012 (with some Year 9 players born in 2013 also eligible).

It includes a Term 2 Development Block (starting Friday 5th June), as well as the South Island U16 Alpiners Festival in Christchurch. There will also be trials for National U16 teams, with a registeration form released closer to the time.

We are also looking for coaches to help deliver the development block, and coaches/managers for both National and Festival teams. If you’re interested, please get in touch.
