The fastest-growing sport in the world – pickleball – was in full swing at Stadium Southland today!
With the competition doubling in size this year to an impressive 56 teams, it was a hugely busy and exciting day getting through all the matches. The reaction times and skill on display was awesome to watch, providing plenty of great entertainment for everyone involved.
A big thank you to Scott from Tennis Southland for organising the draw and managing the day so smoothly, along with the School Sports Coordinators whose support kept everything running well.

🏓 Serve. Rally. Smash. 🏓

Today’s Table Tennis Champs brought the energy, the rallies, and the competition! From seasoned players to social hitters, the draw had plenty of talent!
Across every match, we saw skill, determination, and great improvement as the day went on. It was fantastic to see players stepping up, pushing each other, and enjoying the game. 👏

Cultural Day had 150 students in attendance for a fun day of Samonan & Nepaliese dance, Maori, Filipino, Samoan & Congolese games. The energy was high & new connections were made!
👏Big thanks to the demonstrators from Aurora College, Northern Southland College, Aparima College & Active Southland, you made the day engaging & enjoyable for all participants!

🏃‍♂️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️The South Island Cross Country Festival took place at Oreti Sands on Sunday, with cool but calm conditions setting the scene for a fantastic day of racing.

Thank you to the 170 students from 30 schools from around the South Island who took on the firm course, complete with a few challenging hills. There was outstanding competition across all grades, with some truly exciting racing on display. Congratulations to those that made the podium!🥇🥈🥉

We’d also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Southland Harriers and Athletics Southland for their outstanding organisation and dedication to the management of the event. A special shoutout to all the officials and volunteers whose efforts ensured a smooth and successful day for everyone involved.
Thanks to James McLeay & Kennedy Taylor for attending, presenting medals & sharing their experiences from College in Amercia with the athletes.

The Otago–Southland Road Cycling Champs were held at Teretonga yesterday, with challenging weather at times—but that didn’t stop the riders from digging deep and giving it their all 💪🚴‍♀️
The event featured a time trial, road race, and a fun teams time trial, showcasing both individual strength and teamwork. It was especially great to see some new faces getting involved and embracing the challenge.
A huge thank you to the Cycling Southland team and their volunteers for delivering another well-run event 🙌

Beautiful day in Te Anau for this years Southland Secondary School Cross Country Championships.
Ivan Wilson Park was looking amazing and the conditions under foot were perfect.
Well done to all competitors, there was some great racing.
