This is Notice that a Special Meeting of the Huntly Bridge Club will be held on Monday evening 3 March prior to our usual Bridge play. Note this is five weeks Notice of the meeting, our Constitution stipulates a minimum of two weeks Notice.

The business to be discussed is Adoption of Amendments to our 2024 Constitution which was signed off at our AGM in December 2024.. These amendments consist of paragraphs added to pages 17 and 22, a copy of which are printed in red and available for Members to read at the Clubrooms. In order to retain our tax exemption status the Inland Revenue Dept requires these amendments prior to 12 June 2025.

Please ensure you have read the updated Constitution prior to 3 March. Your Committee are happy to answer any questions you may have. It is anticipated this Special Meeting will be of 5-10 minutes duration.

Great to be back at the Bridge Table tonight. Summer Bridge using our Fun Cards, thanks to Eileen Lumsden who was the "phone a friend" advisor.
Well done to Lorna Hendriks who was first, Geri McCutchan second and Peter Brown third. Hope you have winning Scratchies!
Newbies Mary & Wayne Mickleson and Margaret Brown also did well followed closely by Pip and Dave Gow.

Happy New Year
Update from the Committee - Bridge starts this coming week!
There has been a delay with our Programme Books, however they are now underway and will be ready for you to collect at the Clubrooms on Monday 3 February, which will be an Opening Night of Social Bridge, where we can book our playing dates for 2025. Wednesday players can also collect their books from the clubrooms close to that date.
In the meantime the following Monday Night/Wednesday events are planned:
Monday
13 January - Summer Bridge (Partners Drawn)
20 January – Summer Bridge (Partners Drawn)
27 January – No Bridge as its Auckland Anniversary Day
3 February – Opening Night of Social Bridge/Partner Booking Night
10 February – Individual Championship commences (as per 2025 Programme Book) …..

Wednesday
15 January – Summer Bridge (Partners Drawn)
22 January – Summer Bridge (Partners Drawn)
29 January – Opening Day (Partners Drawn)
5 February – Huntly Handicap commences (as per 2025 Programme Book) …..

The Committee met early today, the main points being:
• Finalisation of the 2025 Programme Book dates
• Confirmation of 2025 Table Money – please note this is being increased to $4 per week for 2025, all 2024 Prize Vouchers and pre-purchased Table Money Vouchers will be honoured, new purchases of Table Money Vouchers will cost $40 for ten Vouchers
• Approval of last three months of payments
• Agreement to include extra clauses in our Constitution as requested by IRD for tax exemption purposes – you will be copied in on the changes and advised of a Special Meeting early this year to Adopt same.

A reminder that at the AGM it was agreed Monday night players would be seated at 6.50pm for play at 7pm, and Wednesday players be seated by 9.50am for play 10am-1pm with no lunch break.

For those interested we have received the following information from our late member Phil Davis's son.

There will be a memorial service for Phil on Friday 13 Dec, 10am at Pyes Pa crematorium chapel. It will be live streamed also.

Can Huntly Bridge Club Members advise asap if they intend attending, otherwise, as requested by Phil's son, I (Geri) will send a small tribute on our friend Phil to be read out at the service.
