SPRINGSTON TROPHY 2025

🌟 Awatuna Horses are proud to be sponsoring Springston Trophy 2025! 🐴

Over the years Awatuna Horses have travelled all over the South Island with their riders to compete at Springston Trophy, it is such a great competition, lots of preparation, and partnership between horse and rider. From hours of training to the trust built in the saddle, every combination showcases dedication, horsemanship, and teamwork.

Springston Trophy is also about the people and ponies that make it special – the friendships, the camaraderie, and the memories that will last a lifetime. 🩷

What makes this one extra special is that her oldest granddaughter will be riding in it. How cool is that!🏇

Penny and the committee have been working extremely hard behind the scenes to make sure this is going to be an amazing event.

If you want to come along the details are below.

A longtime between posts... So much has happened here at Awatuna Horses since I lasted posted. New foals, up and coming horses being broken in and enjoying ridden life, but one thing we are very happy about (in a good way) is that this big fella left the farm today.
Awatuna Jonesy aka Franklin, his show jumping days may be over, but he has recovered enough from his injury to enjoy a good ride and have a new take on life.
Pictured with his new mum Sera, and looking more than happy at his new digs. He really was and still is a fantastic horse and I know he is going to love being someone’s special buddy and set off on some more adventures.
Best of luck with him Sera.

We just love this time of the year and its exciting times ahead as foaling has started for the season over here on the West Coast at Awatuna Horses.

This big, super strong boy was born in the early hours of Saturday morning. Being the big lad he is, he was a bit unsteady on his feet for the first few hours, so with a bit of assistance and after a few good feeds off mum he was away.

Peggy is an amazing first time mum, taking everything in her stride considering she has had limited handling. Having this type of temperament bred into our horses is a must, makes everything so much easier when they need our assistance.

We've given him the name Elton, after his late cousin Awatuna Rocketman as they look very alike.

Elton is by:
Sire: Awatuna Ludarco by (Parco Belgian Warmblood) out of Rose by Kings Ransom x Wi******er Girl
Mare: Peggy by (Remargan WB) out of (Jazz Dancer TB) by the mare Turbulent Dancer

3 more left to foal down, so watch this space.

On Tuesday our lovely Awatuna Rocketman made his way over the rainbow Bridge to greener pastures, he had unfortunately developed an infection in his pastern which was irreparable.
Rocket was Penny and Todd's star in the making and he certainly had a bright future ahead of him.
RIP Rocket, you will be missed. 🐴🌈🚀⭐️
