We just had a few days at Temple. Way more lines than people to ski them. Even Downhill Basin had some fresh tracks to be had on Saturday morning, three days after the last snowfall! Ill try and get some better photos next time, I was way to busy skiing to think about social media.

Hi everyone,

I've finished the Towing Tether. Elasticated. Soft eye so you don't get whipped by a steel ring. Small eye to ensure only the flippy part of the nutcracker is through the eye. Optional carabiner. $30 for now, (I haven't checked out the price properly yet.)

Cheers, Aaron

Hi everyone. Sorry to all those who have been trying to contact me over the last week or so. I've been a bit busy...

I had a sweet weekend with a small crew at Temple digging out Temple tow and Cassidy tow. Which included a bit of silky smooth powder skiing and skiing to the road on the way home.

And a trip to Hanmer Ski Area with my daughter where the wind refilled our tracks every run for two days. Hanmers coverage is adequate with a couple nice jumps on the rope tow and fun wind scoops under the poma. Thanks to Jaron the tow line is flat and easy to tow kids on.

In fact the Hanmer rope tow might be the easiest ropetow in the country for towing kids. It gently ramps up with three easy getting off spots.

On the towing topic, I've got an extra small harness ready for kids in the 4-6 year old range. And a stretchy tow lanyard. Both were trialed last season. Ill get them on the website soon.

We have shifted to Hokitika so I've built a new workshop within my garage. Its finished enough, and I've been making product so will be all good on any orders from now on.

I'm definitely planning on skiing though, so expect some delays when the snow is good.

My daughter is at Hanmer Springs Ski Area and Miro Williams is under the bight lights of Temple Basin.

Cheers, Aaron

Tate Bradley and I climbed up into a hundred metres or so of unexplored cave passage a couple of weeks ago. On a previous trip with Troy Watson we climbed 20m up a 1-2m wide rift using a mix of free climbing and aid. At the top of the rift was the old upper level.

The upper levels were often formed with a lot more water so can be bigger passages. Over time the water cut down forming the rift and left the upper level high and dry. The advent of led lights and battery drills has opened up the exploration of many upper levels around the country.

This time round we explored the old downstream. We went round a few corners, down a 15m pitch, under a ledge into a little chamber with a little belly wiggle tube for a few body lengths. Then we would have to climb down a very slippery 5m into the known passage below. But we didnt. Too scary. Some one else had climbed up it though!.

After derigging, we headed back out of the cave via a beautiful streamway passage with lots of clean grippy bridging, and little waterfall climbs with stalactite and flow stone hand holds.

And on the way home we met our families for dinner at Barrytown Pub and a gig at Barrytown Hall! Great day out.

For years I have been tinkering on cave packs. Abrasion proof, yank, pull and kickablity are requirements. Minimizing webbing is high on my priorities too, as webbing holds water and mud and greatly increases the weight of the pack.
