Don't forget folks the railway will be operating this Wednesday Christmas eve weather permitting.
We will be running from 10am till noon, then from 12.30pm till 3pm and then an evening run from 5pm till 7pm. $2 per ride or $10 for a 6 ride concession ticket. eftpos available at the ticket booth.

The new second departure line is down but needs some finishing work before it's operational. We hope to have it up and running ready for Christmas.
The weather is going to be great Saturday so the railway will be operating at the usual times of 10am till noon, then from 12.30pm till 3pm. $2 per ride or $10 for a 6 ride concession ticket. EFTPOS available at the ticket booth.
The park will be open from 10am till 3pm as always.
We are holding a Christmas eve day and night run at the railway, as well as the normal daytime hours, we will be running the trains from 5pm till 7pm.

We are adding another departure line at the platform. This addition will give us more flexibility of operation at peak times by having another train ready to go on the extra track.
The weather is not looking promising, but we will have to wait and see.
The park will be open from 10am till 3pm, and the railway will run from 10am till noon weather permitting, then from 12.30pm till 3pm. EFTPOS available at the ticket office.

A new set of points being manufactured in the workshop ready for another tweak to our railway over summer.
The weather is a guessing game looking at Saturdays forecasts over various sites, so we just have to wait and see. We will be there, so if it's fine, we run.
$2 per ride or $10 for a six (6) ride concession ticket, EFTPOS available at ticket booth. Running from 10am till noon, then from 12.30pm till 3pm weather permitting.

Welcome to our weekly update from the Heritage Park up at the Hokitika Airport. This week's interesting story comes to you from the Fire Museum that showcases both modern and vintage appliances from around the Coast.
The first hand operated pumper was purchased back in the 1860s' and named the "Victoria" manufactured by the Merrywether company in England and purchased by our brigade, second hand from Melbourne. It was damaged and replaced several years later by a Shand and Mason that is now in one of the displays in the fire museum.
We often wondered what happened to the Victoria and discovered it was found in a farmers shed in Ashburton where it has been fully restored. You might like to give us a hand to restore our old pumper and help tell its story. Call up on saturdays and wednesdays and join our fantastic group of community volunteers.

Hi folks!
It's Canterbury Anniversary Weekend so we should see lots of visitors at the park on Saturday. The weather is not looking too bad so the Mudfish Railway will be running (weather permitting).
Bring the whole family and have some fun, especially in our Heritage Crafts Centre.

In 1864 the local Fire Brigade was formed and they purchased a Merewether pumper from Melbourne. 10 Years later the Station and the Victoria were damaged by a lightening strike. A new Shand and Mason appliance was purchased and the Victoria disappeared.
A century later it was discovered in a barn in Ashburton and has been fully restored to showroom condition.
These stories and more are just a few you can enjoy at the Westland Industrial Heritage park in Hokitika

Charley Cross started up the Sullivan 46 truck this week after months of work on a ground up restoration. It's not quite finished but is looking good and the sound of that V8 rumbling is just sweet!
