Attention Hokitika Korfball community!

Westland High School is looking for a korfball coach (or coaches) to take over the reins this term and coach the WHS Senior A team in their lead-up to the South Island Championships.

The tournament will be held in Christchurch on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of March.

Mentorship around trainings will be offered.

Little Storm is currently taking over all of Sarah’s time and attention. However, these school kids are seriously cool, and it’s a great trip!

What a day for our WHS A team in the South Island Secondary School Korfball Tournament. Here’s a vid capturing some of the action from today’s matches.

Our first game was a closly fought battle with Cashmere pulling through in the end, 13-11. Our second game was a great learning experience against top of our pool Kaiapoi, where we consilidated important tactix and strategies needed for the reaminder of the tournament. The team went down 19-9. Our last game saw us hungry for win playing some top level korfball coming away with the win against Hagley, 19-6.

Tomorrow will see us battle it out for positions 9-16 with three 50 minute games to come.

Last night saw the end of our second season of the Hokitika Senior Korfball League.

The League grew to 5 teams this year with 53 affiliated players. It’s safe to say, once you’ve filled in for a team, you’re hooked!

A huge thank you to Stumpers for their support throughout the season and for the spread at prize giving last night.

Thank you to Peg at Red Streetwear for her generous sponsorship of our umpire awards and for helping kit out our junior league teams.

Congratulations Scorchers on their win against Fossils in the Hokitika Korfball final on Sunday night. Scorchers took the win 11-5 in a fierce battle 🏆

3rd and 4th play off saw our young Thunder Llamas (aka school team) take the win agaisnt Goal diggers 20-8.
