Waikato Ladies Champion of Champions winners for 2025/26 - Hinuera!!

A quality game that went right to the wire - with the game all tied after 18, and Hinuera holding 3 at the leads cross over on the extra end.

Kath played a couple of very good shots to play 2 of the 3 shots out, with her last run connecting with the target, but the Hinuera shot held it ground and locked in there to seal the win.

Best of luck at NZ Champion of Champions Karen and Deb.

Unfortunately the boys exited the Champ of Champ Pairs in the semi final (to Cambridge Central) - but the girls have made their way through to the final.

They will play Tokoroa at 9.30am at Cambridge Central.

Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with the Settle family today as they farewell their much loved brother Ian who passed away earlier this week at Pohlen Hospital in Matamata.

While the Settle name is synonymous with lawn bowls - not only locally, but nationwide - ironically Ian was the only one of the 6 siblings who never ventured into the world of lawn bowls.

Ian played and enjoyed both Rugby and Squash - and I hear he was a force to be reckoned with on the rugby field! Ian was a great supporter of Hinuera Rugby and Sports Club, and always took a keen interest in the results.

Please keep our life members John (and his wife Merle), Gordon, Bev, Stuart (and wife Fay), and Bruce (and wife Faye) and their families in your thoughts today as they lay their brother to rest.
