June is Motor Neuron Disease Awareness Month. Our beautiful Phillipa MacDonald was diagnosed with MND almost 2 years ago. Her OT has set up a fundraising page where all funds go to MND New Zealand.
MND is a progressive disease that can affect anybody & has no known cure.
Any funds raised goes towards supporting those & families affected by MND & also funding vital research.

And the countdown is on for another comp in July for Jennie... who continues to inspire us all at Hubfit 💪

Hawera-based bodybuilder, Jennie Williamson, recognised a moment of slurred words and a bad headache as the first signs she was having a stroke.

What Jennie thought was a migraine turned out to be a massive stroke, just days after an undetected mini‑stroke.

“I felt a wicked ache, as if someone had placed a red‑hot poker right on my temple!”

The impact was overwhelming. “I was incapacitated in a way I could never have imagined… I couldn’t stop crying in my hospital bed.”

With support from Stroke Aotearoa and a long road of rehab, Jennie rebuilt her life through movement and mindset.

“Exercise was key in improving my mental health and unlocking my rehab potential.”

Today, Jennie lives with the effects of stroke but focuses on what matters most.

“Now, I focus on being present and living the moment, in every sense of the word.”

Another member of our Hubfit community had a winning weekend 🙌

Justin Clegg, member of the Fonterra Emergency Rescue team completed the Firefighter Sky Tower 2026 Challenge - in full gear, in a time of 18mins 56 secs.
Shaving off 2 mins from last year his time ranked him 284 out of 498 participants.
Awesome work Justin 👏

Feeling incredibly grateful after an amazing weekend competing at the Great Lake Classic in Taupo.

A huge thank you to Ben and Vicky for their generous sponsorship of my entry into the show. Your support means so much, and I’m proud to represent such an encouraging gym community.

I placed 1st in the 40+, 50+, and Open categories, along with the Overall Miss Fitness Model title. I was also awarded my Pro Qualifier card, which allows me to retain my amateur status while competing in Pro shows with the opportunity to earn my Pro card.

Now to reset, refocus, and prepare for Nationals in Auckland this September.

Thank you to all the members and everyone who has supported, encouraged, and followed my journey along the way. I truly appreciate every message, chat, and bit of encouragement more than you know. ❤️

GOOD LUCK To Marina Hill competing in Fitness Model 40+, 50+ & Open classes at the Great Lakes Classic in Taupo today.

There will be little live snippets on ICN NZ Instagram page & Marina will be on stage 5.30pm (which is more likely to be closer 6.30pm 😂)
