The lads welcomed the Fitzroy Black team on Saturday and what a contest it ended up being. After winning the toss, Josh was keen to have a bat and went on our way to set a par score from our 40 overs. After a quick wicket from the start, everyone went on to make some runs. Big Lordy top scoring with 40 after a few drop catches, one finally stuck to have the big mahn out. 171/9

Fitzroy got out to a blitzing start with their turn with the bat, until drinks and not losing a wicket. after the break the lads got stuck back in and knocking the set batsmen over the wickets then started to tumble. with not many runs needed, Fitzroy made it over the line with a couple of wickets in hand. 172/6 Hayden and Dainton picking up a pair of wickets each for 39 runs a piece. Moment of the match seeing Johnnys offstump being cartwheeled finally 🥵

Last weekend the Turuturu Blues took on the NPBHS Black team. A great opening partnership with the bat got us going with Jasdeep Singh scoring a fantastic 53 to give us a great boost on our way to 179 all out in 37 overs. Some good bowling followed with great effort from Chief with only 18 runs from his 6 overs. Unfortunately we fell short and couldn't quite make a breakthrough allowing NPBHS to make 180 without losing a wicket. Onward to tomorrow when we take on fitzroy black.

Game starts at 10:30am come down and support the lads! See you there.

Another week another win, this time against a tricky Inglewood Maroons team who dined out in the sunshine winning the toss and having a bat first after a handy start the lads reeled them in and had them all out in the 34th over for 169.

With some great bowling and a couple of spectacular catches they came off the field grinning ear to ear. “catches” of the day cause they were both great and can’t be separated were Chiefs diving one handed catch at first slip and Kyrons one handed pluck from behind his own body out of nowhere being the other one. And again for the second week in a row with bowling figures of 2/26 from his 7 overs and 1 maiden (chasing the club’s record for the season) goes to Chief.

With the target set the lads quickly got in their groove with the bat after an early couple of wickets the ship was steady and sailed away in the sunshine, Luke put in a breezy 43 off 33 balls and Josh come in to finish off the innings 172/5.

Special mention to Hayden for playing in his baggy game also having a day out with figures of 2/37 and being there at the finish with a 34*

After a slow start last week the boys bounced back with a better performance against Inglewood Blue in their own wet back yard. After scoring 175/7 in the first innings the boys come out and knocked Inglewood over for 117/10 in reply. Notable contributions for Lex scoring 80 runs and retiring hurt after suffering a top edge into his face, and coming back in not long after. Bowlers shared the wickets around with Chiefy being the chief destroyer with excellent figures of 2 wickets 2 maidens for a miserly 12 runs off his 8 overs.

This week sees the boys back at Turuturu Park taking on the Inglewood Maroons. 10:30am first ball, come and support the lads. TT4L!
