One of the hilliest one day rides in the country! www.gentleannieride.co.nz The Gentle Annie doesn't believe in fastest times.

It gives out personal bests. Fastest times come, and go, a tail wind, a favorable group, a downhill ride, but they are fleeting, and ultimately unrewarding. Personal bests are earned, worn like a badge of honour and they don't differentiate between ability. They tell of a struggle, a reward, a time when you've tested yourself 100%, or tried to go way beyond what you've ever been able to do before.

The Gentle Annie won't give you a fastest time, but whether you're fast, slow, large or small, somewhere between Taihape and Roosters Brewery (Hastings), you'll find a personal best. This year we are including Ambassador Riders, a Grupetto and post event celebration at Roosters Brewery.

Where is Annie ...?

Folks have been asking if there will be a 2026 event.

In May our team plan to check out the Napier - Taihape Road, which went through major reconstruction and repair works post Cyclone Gabrielle. We hope to let you know, sometime in June, if she's good to go and an 2026 event will take place.

So cross your fingers... keep pumping the pedals... and stayed tuned!

Unfortunately Ramblers Cycling Club has to announce that the event cannot proceed due to damage to the roads and bridges...

Unfortunately Ramblers Cycling Club has to announce that the event cannot proceed due to damage to the roads and bridges after Cyclone Gabriel. The work schedule means that postponing until Autumn may not be enough to be certain that repairs will be completed.

Consequently there will not be a 2023 edition of this event.

All entrants can choose to have either a transfer to the 2024 event on 2 November 2024 or a full refund. Please email [email protected] to confirm your choice and include your account number if requesting a refund.

There will be a scenic and enjoyable club event over a picturesque and interesting route on Saturday 4 November that you are most welcome to attend.
