As the sun sets on a very successful final race day for HBRCC at Tōmoana Showgrounds, we are grateful for everything this RC race site has meant to the club and its families.
Twenty years ago, while doing some printing work for the A and P Society, James began a conversation that would help shape the future of off-road RC racing in Hawke’s Bay. Through his hard work, determination, and the support of dedicated racers, a small corner of a field became the club’s RC track.
Over the years, that track was shaped, improved, and transformed into the place so many of us have known and loved.
It was fitting that James completed a final lap of honour around the track he helped bring to life all those years ago.
We now move on to a new location and a fresh start in Pakowhai, with excitement and a clear plan to make the new site just as special for the club and its families in the years ahead. As we farewell Tōmoana Showgrounds, we do so with deep gratitude for the past and confidence in the future.
