👋 Meet the Y-Kids Taradale Team!

Kia ora whānau! We’d love to introduce you to the awesome team behind Y-Kids Taradale. ❤️

⭐ Meet Colleen
Colleen has been part of The Y for an incredible 20 years! She has eight grandchildren and loves spending time with her family, gardening and getting creative with all sorts of crafts.

⭐ Meet Ange
Ange has been with The Y for 6 years at Puketapu School and Taradale. Outside of The Y, she loves spending time with her two grandchildren, family and friends, as well as baking, crafts, gardening and settling down with a good book. 📕

And of course, we have our awesome Programme Assistants: Ice, Jade, Charlise and Emilie!

Together, the team works hard to create a safe, welcoming and fun environment where tamariki can make friends, get active, be creative and, most importantly, have heaps of fun! 😃

There’s always plenty happening, from baking, loom bands, board and card games, Play-Doh and arts and crafts to playground adventures, football, basketball, challenges and much more. 🏀⚽️🏸🛝🎨

At Y-Kids Taradale we offer Before School Care, including breakfast, and After School Care, including a yummy afternoon tea. 🥪🍪

We also have our new, larger van, affectionately named Sylvie by the tamariki! 🚐 Sylvie helps us provide our school transport service, including Puketapu School.

This term has also been a little different while maintenance work was completed at Taradale School. After temporarily operating from the school library, we’re excited to be back in the freshly decorated school hall, and it looks fantastic! ❤️

🌸 Spring Holiday Programme

The school holidays are nearly here, and we have another action-packed Y-Kids Holiday Programme planned, with exciting trips, activities, games and creations to enjoy.

Whether your tamariki are regular Y-Kids, haven’t visited us for a while, or will be joining us for the very first time, we’d love to welcome them!

Spaces are available now, book your days and come make new friends, try new things and have a fun-filled school holiday with The Y! 🌟

🌟 Y Kids Arthur Miller, Meet Our Team! 🌟

Meet our friendly team, Shirley (left) & Jahvana (right)!👋💛

We love creating a welcoming, fun and safe environment where kids can come along after school, have fun, make friends and feel right at home.

There’s always something to get involved in! 🎨 Whether it’s painting, colouring, drawing, clay, bracelets, paper crafts, painted rocks or making decorations, we love getting creative together.

Kids can also enjoy playing on the turf and playground, playing games indoors, or simply relaxing with a movie and some friends. 🛝🎲🎬

🎉 Once a month, we celebrate our birthday kids with a special party day filled with games, prizes and lots of fun! Each birthday child also gets to take home a chocolate treat. 🍫🎂

We’re always excited to welcome new kids through our doors, come along, have some fun and see what Y Kids Arthur Miller is all about! 💛🌟

Happy Father’s Day from The Y Hawke’s Bay! ❤️

Today we’re celebrating all the dads, grandads, stepdads, caregivers, father figures and positive male role models who make a difference in the lives of our tamariki and rangatahi.

And here’s a little piece of Y history you might not know…

💡 Did you know?
The YMCA played an important role in the early history of Father’s Day. In 1910, the Spokane YMCA helped support one of the first organised Father’s Day celebrations, working alongside Sonora Smart Dodd, who championed the idea of a special day recognising fathers.

More than 100 years later, The Y continues to be about strengthening families, supporting young people and creating places where people can belong, grow and thrive.

From all of us at The Y Hawke’s Bay, Happy Father’s Day to the fathers and father figures across our community. We hope you have a fantastic day with your whānau. ❤️

A little update from The Y-Kids Raureka

Meet our amazing Y-Kids team! Shane (left), Nali (middle) and Kate (right). As a team we absolutely love what we do and creating a fun, happy and welcoming space for our tamariki. Whether we’re getting creative, playing games or enjoying some yummy kai, seeing our tamariki smile, laugh and have fun is what makes our day! 🌈✨

We’d love to welcome Kate, our newest Site Assistant, who has been loving her time with us and getting to know each and every one of our tamariki! 🥰 Kate helps with our Maraekākaho & Bridge Pa School pickups, bringing our tamariki back to Raureka School for some fun and awesome afternoons in our care.

Our Flaxmere run is looking amazing too, with Kimi Ora now joining us as an additional pickup!

We’ve been keeping busy with all sorts of fun activities this term, from rock painting and playdough creations to yummy baking! 🎨🧁

👋 Meet the Y-Kids Marewa Team – Angela & Saydie!

Kia ora whānau!

We’d love to introduce you to the awesome team at Y-Kids Marewa.

💙Angela has been part of the Y team for around six months, and Saydie has been with us for about a year.

This term, our tamariki have been keeping busy with plenty of fun activities, including crafts, board games, tennis, pogo sticks and more! When the weather is on our side, we love getting outdoors and making the most of the parks and open spaces around Marewa School.

It’s been great seeing the tamariki having fun, staying active, building friendships and enjoying their time together at the Y.

🌟 With the school holidays just around the corner, Angela and Saydie are looking forward to welcoming back our regular Y-Kids tamariki — and meeting plenty of new faces too!

We can’t wait to see you at Y-Kids Marewa these school holidays! 💙
