Have you noticed an older family member or loved one finding some everyday movements a bit harder than they used to—like getting up from the floor, standing on one foot, reaching overhead, doing a deep squat, or stepping quickly to the side?
These movements might seem small, but they play a big role in staying safe, confident, and independent as we age.
I’m Maria, a coach based in Havelock North and Hastings, and I specialise in helping older adults stay active, strong, and confident in their bodies. My work is all about supporting people to keep doing the things they love, for as long as possible.
As we grow older, it’s completely natural to slow down. But with the right guidance and encouragement, it’s possible to maintain strength, balance, and confidence—and reduce the risk of falls—without pushing too hard or feeling overwhelmed.
