EX Lancer Motorsport

EX Lancer Motorsport Welcome to our page!

We are based in Hamilton, New Zealand and the weapon of choice is an iconic 1981 Mitsubishi EX Lancer... this beast is awesome and we hope to continue the legacy that's been created before us.

Surely its called "Open 2WD" for a reason right?!!! Shall we see if it fits? πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Ž

Y'all have heard of the dreaded "Commentators Curse" right?? For us it seems to be the photographers that cause the Lancer to slide wide!

Don't believe us??? Check this proof out! πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

So good to get back on these amazing roads! Huge thanks to the team for putting the event on and also this great little write up. Legends

Happy hump day you lot!! Things are quietly ticking away with the Lancer as we creep slowly towards our next event. So, it seems like a perfect opportunity to grab the popcorn and jump back on board with us as we take on the final stage of Rally Taumarunui, 14km of SS8 "Hikumutu". What an awesome piece of road!!

Hope you enjoy the ride! As always, thanks so much for your support - we genuinely appreciate every bit of it.

Yes, the display case is on its way, but even without it we think that the EX Lancer completes this epic collection of 6 x iconic cars.

There has been so many amazing rally cars over the years, maybe an S1 Quattro needs to join the collection??

All models are hand built and painted from various kits. Gotta do something to keep busy between rounds huh??!!

OK team, the maths is pretty simple now that Round 6 has unfortunately been cancelled. It looks like we only need to finish Rally Bay of Plenty for Tony to win the Class D Drivers title. Jayson (unofficially) has already done enough to win the Class D Co-Driver title for 2026.

To be sitting second overall for the outright Championship is pretty unbelievable, question is... where will the EX Lancer Motorsport team end up overall against those 4WD cars??

Guess we'll find out!

Since we've got a bit of time between now and Rally Bay of Plenty, we thought it was timely to have a quick look back at some of this years NIRS: North Island Rally Series events.

See if you can spot the near rollover!

Looming on the horizon is the upcoming Silver Fern Marathon Rally. This is going to be a MASSIVE (we can't reiterate that enough) undertaking requiring an eye watering amount of fuel and tyres to get through what is essentially 7 x rally's in 7 days.

If you are keen to jump on board and help in any way we would LOVE to hear from you. Contact either Tony or Jayson to discuss what's possible! There's plenty of room for signage on the car! Every little bit will help πŸ‘Œ

Cheers team, enjoy the clip.

Credit where credit is due, when those Broadbent boys tell ya that they're going to stop and have a stretch mid-stage... they STOP! πŸ˜‚

Thanks for the early warning lads and at least you only got bellied and didn't tip the Corolla over the edge.

Epic little clip from JC's Speedway! SS8 winding our way through the spectators...

WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE!

SS6/8 offered up the longest single straight of Rally Taumarunui. 850m in length and a chance to really let the Lancer loose! She's good for close on 200kmh and we were so looking forward to opening the taps.

Unfortunately just as we came onto the start of the straight we got caught up in the dust from Sam Broadbent's ailing Corolla and, well, as you'll see we struggled to see the road ahead. Net result.... haemorraging 20secs of time and slowing to under 90kmh.

We will ALWAYS err on the side of safety in these instances. No one's fault, it didn't cost us a placing overall, just affected our stage time coming home 19th through SS6.

The video doesn't really show how bad it was, but we're sure you'll get the idea!
