Your role as a leader is not to have all the answers. Your role as a leader is to guide your teams to think for themselves, which builds their confidence and autonomy. Create the environment for thinking. How often is your team coming to you for the answers?

Great leaders don't create dependence. They create confidence.

Instead of giving the answer, try something like:
Tell me your thinking and Iā€™ll share mine.

Whatā€™s the context I need in order to help? (This is designed to get them talking so you can understand their thinking)

How well do you know your team?
Not what they do. Not their job title. Not how they're performing.
Like really know them?

What gets them excited?
What frustrates them?
What are they working towards?
What support do they need from you?

We often see leaders who know exactly what's happening in the business but know very little about the people making it happen.

People want to feel seen; they want to know they matter.

You should be able to tell if one of your team walks through the front door and their energy is off.

So... who do you need to have a coffee with this week to deepen your connection?

We have our Leadership Fundamentals for New and Aspiring leaders coming up on 27th August at FMG Stadium, Hamilton. Being honest, our numbers are a little low for this one. This would be perfect for less experienced or future leaders. The reason we have targeted this audience is so everyone in the room is at a similar stage of their leadership journey and feels comfortable learning together. There is no judgement in any Roar Coaching space, we will all learn together.
