Another First Innings Win for Eastlink CC! 💪🏏
A rain-affected match meant Day 1 was washed out and the game was reduced to a one-innings contest — but that didn’t stop Eastlink from putting on a strong all-round performance.
After winning the toss, Eastlink elected to field first and struck early. Gaurav set the tone with two wickets in his third over, and Pardeep followed up with a brilliant caught-and-bowled to keep the pressure on.
HKR fought back with a solid partnership, but a smart bowling change did the trick. Dinesh bowled tightly and Sandeep grabbed a sharp catch in the slips to leave them at 4/81. Another partnership pushed the score to 122 before captain Sunny stepped up, removing the set batter on 59. From there, Sunny ran through the middle order, taking 4 quick wickets in 7 overs, well supported by Yasser from the other end. Despite a few dropped chances, Eastlink stayed on top, and Gaurav returned for his second spell to finish the innings in style, ending with 4 wickets.
HKR were all out for 142, setting Eastlink 143 to secure the first innings win.
The chase started positively before Akshay fell at 1/18. Vikas played his shots freely, racing to 38 before being dismissed by the spinner, bringing the score to 2/57. A strong partnership between Sunny and Yasser took Eastlink to 2/103, but HKR struck back with two quick wickets, leaving Eastlink under pressure at 4/106.
That’s when the skipper led from the front. Sunny played a captain’s knock of 52, well supported by Sandeep’s valuable 34. Some quick runs and big hits pushed the total well past the target, with Eastlink finishing strongly at 7/212. Gaurav (27*) and Pardeep (16*) remained unbeaten at the end.
