It’s been great this season to see girls, boys and young cricketers from all around the Coast out there competing, improving and enjoying their cricket.

The game is in a really good place at junior level, and that comes down to the players, the parents, the coaches and everyone who helps make it happen each week. Thank you all for the time and energy you put in.

Keep warm over the winter… don’t worry, summer will roll around again before we know it — and with it, another cricket season 🏏 🔥 🐦‍🔥

As we wind up another season - the association wants to shout out to Michael Cook!

In his 2 seasons as GDO our cricket offerings have progressed significantly. We consistently hear how professional and supportive he is. He’s smiling (most of the time 😃 ) and he knows how to engage kids parents and schools!! We thank you for all you’ve done these past 2 seasons!! You’re a star ⭐️.

Junior Cricket Finals – Next Saturday 🏏

Our junior cricket has really grown this year. There’s always room to build and grow, and we’ll keep doing that in the seasons ahead — but it’s been great to see the progress across all teams.

We now look forward to Finals Day next Saturday at Arthur Fong Park:

Coast Girls Scorchers v Paroa Heat 🔥
(Arthur Fong 1; 9.30am)

Greymouth Phoenix 🐦‍🔥 v Westland Warriors 🛡️
(Arthur Fong 2; 9.30am)

These matches will be followed at approximately 12:45pm by a short presentation of season awards and certificates.

We’d love to see plenty of support down there to finish off the junior season in style.

Great day for junior cricket and a great day for a final!!

Senior Twenty-20 Final Set – Kings vs Got the Runs

The West Coast Senior T20 final is ready, with Kings and Got the Runs earning their place after composed semifinal wins — and both sides arriving with momentum and belief.

Got the Runs head into the final on the back of a dominant all‑round performance, led by Logan Ross, who produced one of the spells of the season with six wickets in four overs. It underlines how dangerous their bowling unit has become, with real depth right through the attack. With the bat, Mitchell Tapp’s calm 40* and support from Jaime Garland showed they can chase under pressure when it matters. Ross capped a magic day with 19 quick fires runs to ensure they got home with 11 balls to spare 🛡️ !

Kings 🦁, meanwhile, continue to look increasingly settled and finals‑ready. Their semifinal chase was built around a crucial 59‑run partnership between Richard Paul and Sudhish, which steadied the innings and broke the back of the contest. Paul’s ability to control tempo, combined with Sudhish’s finishing, has become a key feature of Kings’ late‑season form.

The final shapes as a classic contrast: Got the Runs bringing wicket‑taking punch and renewed bowling depth; Kings countering with calm chases, balanced bowling, and a hunger to finally convert after misses in recent seasons.
Margins have been tight all summer — expect another one that could turn on a single spell, partnership, or moment under pressure. 🔥 ✊🏽

Coast Youth Rep – Valuable Lessons in Darfield

The Coast Youth side travelled to Darfield on Sunday for a rare representative fixture against Canterbury Country Invitational, gaining valuable experience against strong age-group opposition.

Canterbury Country posted 259 from 35 overs, with Millen Kerr the standout for the Coast, producing an excellent spell of 5–40.

In reply, Harper O’Dea top-scored with 25 in a positive partnership with Kerr, but the Coast were eventually dismissed for 161. A number of coast batsmen with starts but more cricket at this level and format will help going forward, as a couple needed to push on and convert to a 50+ score.

A tough result, but an important step forward for a young group of committed players. Well done lads 👏!
