🏉 U18 Girls update 🏉

It was a chilly night of footy for the U18 girls and not our sharpest performance with the ball, but the girls still found a way to get the job done. Some brilliant full-field tries highlighted what this team is capable of, and some outstanding passages of play, despite not being as clinical as usual, they dug in and came away with a good win. Plenty to build on heading into next week. 🏉❄️

🏉 Glenfield U85 Cavaliers vs Takapuna Bombers
📍 Onewa Domain | Saturday 13 June

The conditions were absolutely perfect at Onewa Domain yesterday – clear skies, crisp air, and ideal weather for running rugby.

Despite still carrying a number of injuries throughout the squad, the depth, commitment, and teamwork that this group has built throughout the season shone through once again. A number of players stepped up, embraced their responsibilities, and took ownership of their roles when it mattered most.

The Cavaliers came out firing, racing to an early 12-point lead with quick succession tries from Cody and Eli, with Bailey converting one of them. Takapuna weren’t about to make things easy though, and fought their way back into the contest to narrow the score to 12-7 by halftime.

Our boys lifted again in the second half and took control of the game. Tries to Blade, a double to Willie, and another from Ioane helped seal an impressive victory and keep us firmly in 3rd position on the competition ladder.

A huge thank you to the referee for his efforts and to all of our supporters who came down to cheer the boys on. Your support makes a massive difference every week.

Now it’s back to the tools this week as we prepare for another important challenge. We take on Bays at home next weekend in another must-win encounter, and we’re looking forward to building on the momentum from this performance.

Final Score:
Glenfield Cavaliers 38 – Takapuna Bombers 14

🏉 J2 Game Update 🏉

Awesome team effort from the J2 against Tomorata who have joined the Harbour comp this season.

Team played with heart, with strong carries especially from the 4 girls and some good use of the ball giving it to the speedsters out wide.

Special mention to Player of the days Filip with 4 tries and Joseph with a great game doing what he’s been working on at training.

Coaches award Oscar and opposition player of the day who was into everything Christina.

Final score Glenfield J2 57-22

Dangerous team when we are smiling 😃
Thanks parents and supporters and Alamu for reffing today too.

🔥 U18 girls update 🔥

The U18 girls had their first Friday night home game at the club, and what a treat , true to form, they started off well, scoring the first couple of tries playing a fast-paced Takapuna Grammar team, Takapuna hit back straight away with 3 tries, but the girls still went into halftime 5 tries ahead.

The second half was a kick and regather masterclass from the girls showing great awareness and finishing off some amazing team tries. Well done on the performance, girls.

🏉 U85 Cavaliers vs Northcote Gnomes 🏉

A local derby against our neighbours is always one of the highlights of the season, and after our opening-round clash under lights left us wanting more, the Cavaliers came into this weekend’s fixture with plenty of motivation and a hunger to even the score.

Like many teams at this stage of the season, we’re experiencing a few mid-season challenges with injuries affecting player availability. However, yesterday’s match highlighted the depth we have built within the squad this year, with a number of boys stepping up when their opportunity came and making valuable contributions to get the job done.

The team put in the work during the week, arrived focused, and it showed from the opening whistle.

The first half belonged to the Cavaliers, with Ariki and Riki (father and son) both crossing the line, alongside Ioane, who also added his name to the scoresheet. Blade successfully slotted two conversions, while Bailey added a penalty goal to help us build a strong 22–7 halftime lead.

To their credit, the Gnomes never gave up. They fought their way back into the contest in the second half and managed to keep us scoreless after the break. However, our defensive effort held firm, and when the final whistle blew, the Cavaliers came away with a 22–17 victory.

Another important result that keeps our 2026 campaign on track.

A huge congratulations to the team for their effort and commitment. The willingness of players to step up and perform when called upon is a great reflection of the culture and depth within this group.

Thank you to the referee for officiating the match, and to all our supporters who braved the weather to cheer us on from the sidelines.

Now it’s back to work this week as we prepare for our next challenge at Onewa.

Up the Cavs! ❤️🤍🖤
