Hamilton Island Cup V1 queens they call us now, doing every single craft race on V1 while others do OC1

Today was best conditions for V1, flat, light swells and so clear, you could see the bottom the whole race.

Had some fun with mate Nia doing V1 10km relay, 1st V1 and 3rd women’s crew

Thanks Oscar again for V1, Nia for teaming up, Paddler Life TV for photos and organisers for a fun day on the water

Another great day on the water with these wahine, Team South, a mix of Cook Island, Aotearoa NZ, Samoa and Australian paddlers.

Onto the next race of the day 16km at Hamilton Island Cup

Only V1 in this race out of 79 paddlers. Heart rate was up in the 155 the whole race, think it was adrenaline going into a second race of the day

Thanks again Oscar, Whitsunday Outriggers for all your all you did to make it possible for me to race

Sleep well tonight, tomorow OC6 16km

Done, first paddler to compete in V1 marathon race at Hamilton Island Cup.

Crossing the channel at the start there were some oh @$& # moments, the sweeps were so big and coming from all directions. Around the island caught some great surf, unfortunately got hit from behind causing the V1 to get swamped by the waves near the rocks. Managed to paddle out to calm waters, bail and get back into the race, passing 8 OC1s.

Happy with the result and opportunity to do this race, especially in a V1

Thanks Oscar, Whitsunday Outriggers, Tim, Kim for all your help to get me out racing today and for the canoes to use for coaching sessions.

Thanks also o the organisers for all your hard work in the background!!

I’m arriving on Hamilton Island this Wednesday 17 June and will be here until 22 June. If you’ve ever wanted personalised coaching that actually transforms the way you paddle, this is your chance. For 25 years I’ve been competing, learning, refining and standing on podiums around the world in both team and individual events. My coaching is built on real experience, real results, and a deep understanding of technique, biomechanics, functional movement and what makes a paddler truly fast, efficient and smart on the water.

If you want to improve your technique, fix inefficiencies, understand your body better, or finally feel confident and powerful in V1, OC1, OC2 or OC6 — I’ve opened limited 1‑on‑1 coaching spots while I’m here.

How to book your session:
1. Scan QR code to open spreadsheet and choose your date, time and vessel.
2. Email [email protected] or PM me with session you want.
3. I’ll email your booking details and invoice.
4. Complete payment and email a screenshot of your payment.
5. I’ll email you confirming your payment has been received, and your session is officially locked in.

My coaching focuses on helping paddlers become faster, smoother and more efficient through technique correction, functional movement, postural assessment and body biomechanics — creating a natural, powerful feel on the water. Whether you want to build endurance, sharpen your ocean skills, improve speed, strengthen your body, refine race strategies or lift your mental game, I’ll guide you through the exact steps to get there.

If you’re ready to level up your paddling, book your spot now. Spaces are limited and always fill quickly.

See you on the water.

It’s been two weeks since our last gym workout was loaded up, and paddlers have given some great feedback. They’re feeling stronger, more connected, and asking for more. So here it is — your next free gym session, built by paddlers, for paddlers.

Every fortnight we share a workout that complements your paddling. This one focuses on building leg drive, shoulder stability and back strength — the key areas that transfer directly into your stroke. When you squat, sn**ch and carry, you’re not just lifting weight; you’re training the same muscles that power your canoe through the water.

Back squat
6 x 4 reps at 60–90% + 10 plate sn**ch every 2 minutes
Increase weight each set. The squat builds leg power and hip drive — the foundation of your catch and acceleration. The plate sn**ch adds explosive coordination and shoulder control.

Power sn**ch
3 x 6 reps at 70% every 2 minutes
This develops speed through the hips and shoulders, teaching your body to move powerfully and efficiently — just like transitioning from catch to power phase.

Hang sn**ch
2 x 6 reps at 70%, 2 x 4 reps at 80%, 2 x 2 reps at 90% every 2 minutes
This progression builds upper‑back strength and stability under load — essential for maintaining posture and control through long sessions or rough conditions.

Finisher
4 x 100 m farmers carry + 10 slow, controlled push‑ups
The carry reinforces grip, shoulder endurance and trunk stability — everything you need for a strong, connected stroke. The push‑ups finish with control and precision, reminding you that strength without technique is wasted energy.

Want more? Sign up today for the 1‑month programme and get not just a paddle programme but also a gym programme included for free, valued at $100.

“Feel like your current training isn’t getting you where you want to be?”

If that’s you, you’re not stuck — you’re just missing the right structure, guidance, and progression.

Most paddlers train hard, but without a clear plan or technique direction, the results stay the same no matter how much effort goes in. The 12‑Week Paddler Level‑Up Programme was built to change that.

Starting 1 July, you’ll follow a clear weekly focus, learn technique foundations that actually make sense on the water, and build strength, speed, and endurance in a way that moves you forward. You’ll work through sprint and long‑distance development, OC1 and V1 skills, mindset training, and race preparation. Every third week we meet live on Zoom, and you’ll have homework, reflection tasks, and a one‑on‑one catch‑up with me to keep you progressing with purpose.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and finally train with clarity and confidence, this programme will take you there.

Spots are limited and doors are open now.

Or PM me to secure your spot.

This is your moment to back yourself, lift your level, and step into the paddler you know you can be.

Elevate your paddling and unlock the strength in your technique, the power in your body and the mindset that lifts your performance — this 12‑week programme is for you.

The Paddler Level‑Up Programme is a 12‑week online journey designed to lift your technique, awareness and performance on and off the water. After 25 years of paddling, coaching and winning world titles, I’ve learnt that real progress comes from understanding your body, your technique and how to train with intention. This programme brings that knowledge directly to you.

Here is a glimpse of SESSION 3 where we talk about what is the right length paddle for you to use
Across 12 modules you’ll learn body mechanics, technique foundations, power development, balance, sprint and endurance training, OC1/V1 skills, team paddling, race preparation, programme design and athlete wellbeing. You’ll also learn my Vesna OAR Framework for Paddling — Ownership, Accountability and Responsibility — the mindset that shapes grounded, confident, high‑performing paddlers.

We meet live every third week online Zoom, and all sessions are recorded.
Start date: 1 July
Session dates: All Sundays - 5 July, 18 July, 9 August, 30 August, 20 September.

Each session runs for 2 hours each where we introduces three modules, followed by three weeks to complete your workbook tasks, reflections and actions. You can also book a 1‑on‑1 with me during each block to ask questions, get feedback and make sure you’re applying the modules correctly to your paddling.

Investment: US$300 (can be paid in installments)
Limited to only 12 spots available

This programme is for paddlers who want to refine their technique, build confidence, improve performance and train smarter, not harder. It’s for paddlers who want long‑term growth, clarity and the tools to keep improving long after the 12 weeks are complete.

Move better. Paddle smarter. Build the foundations that create real performance.
