Manawatu Jetski Club Welcome to Manawatu Jetski Club. A Place for all Manawatu/Horowhenua Jetski Riders and Jetski event

20/04/2026

Hi everyone

It’s with safety in mind I will be choosing to CANCEL this event planned for Anzac Day (Saturday 25 April 2026).

My reasons for cancelling a very simple and I’m sure you will all fully back my decision to postpone/cancel event.

With the amount of rainfall we have had in the past 24 hours along with the amounts of rainfall estimated of fall in the next 24 hours still along with district Council talking about opening the flood gate later Tuesday that water will only be entering one water away and that’s the waterway we will be riding on. That means the river will be higher. It’s also means there will be a lot of debris in the water both of the building and visible with the water level being higher. That’s the greater risk to many of us not being able to be the logs that are logic in the bottom of the river that poke upward that we may make compact with whether it’s a high tide or a low tide along with all the dislodgement of debris along the rivers bang along the way up and down through high and low tides as well because of the higher water level.

I know this may upset many of you who have possibly made accommodation plans, I don’t do this lightly and I do apologise but I do put everybody’s safety first and I’m sure many of you know me. I do always make sure that comes first. It Paramount … if you guys are travelling down and still travel down and you still choose to do the river ride on your own I can’t stop you but all I asked is that you let me know that you are going and that you let me know when you are back please, but I do advise against it.

In light of the camp of the I will consider looking at the thing the event on labour weekend again that’s something you guys are interested in doing. If so let me know if that is something you guys would be keen on doing and I will put this together for labour weekend.

Otherwise I apologise but again safety first and I hope that everybody has faith week still quite a bit of rain to fall so be safe 👊

Welcome to MANAWATU JETSKI CLUB.

I’m going to hold an annual JetSki tour “Tour de River each year in April on ANZAC Weekend for those who would like to squeeze in 1 more ride before the cooler air sets in.

For those that don’t know me I’m Quinton and I owned WAKEX. I host a very popular annual JetSki tour called TAUPŌ TAKEOVER, which is a pretty awsum event with up to 100 awsum people and skis that join every year.

Most have never done the Manawatu River ride, but for those who have done this event with me know how much fun it actually is. This River tour was by far the BEST seller for WAKEX and a great way to explore the waterway in a safe environment for both novice and veteran too.

So if you’re new to Jetski’s and large groups on waterways this is a great way to familiarise yourself in a group on a body of water that is confined at times and in a safe environment too.

We launch from Manawatu Boat Club Boat Ramp in Foxton Beach and travel on average a round trip of 80km* which on a fine day takes around 3 Hours of pure stress free enjoyment. With plenty of “Full Throttle” Straights and an abundance of swooping corners for these glass water fanatics to carve.

The Tour distance is calculated on “Half Tank” theory where we will then group and turn around and head back. You dont want to be the first person to half a tank do you 🤣🤣.
We do stop up river for a snack and a catch up at the halfway mark before heading back. As well as a few stops along the at to ensure everyone is accounted for.

25 April 2026

✅Skis in water 9:30am
✅DEPARTURE 10:00am
✅“Estimated” Return 13:00pm
✅All 4-Stroke skis only require 1 full tank of fuel. You’re welcome to bring spare fuel with you if you like but most current (2018+) skis will survive the trip on a tank. This includes SPARKS, RXTX’s, Yamahas VX, GP’s etc etc. that depends on who burns their fuel up waiting for others to launch and who is smart enough to sit idle😜..

✅Boat Ramp Fee $10 CASH into the IRON MADEN box at the ramp ONLY.
✅You can pack a snack or two as we do beach up the river for 20mins

⚠️If you choose to Launch at Whirikino then you MUST trek down to join us for the briefing and numbers count. NO EXCEPTIONS or you won’t join us sorry. This is for safety in numbers please.

⚠️Righto now for some important information….

We are STRICTLY LIMITED to the amount of Skis per tour up the river at any 1 time. (This is MY CHOICE for safety and space on the water based on previous experience hosting tours so please be aware spaces are limited to 25 ish Skis. If there is a large presence then I WILL Host a back to back run when the first team returns if need be.

⚠️If you’ve joined any of my events you’ll know my STRICT policy on behaviour and SAFETY. That means if anyone is being reckless and causing a dangerous environment for others you will be asked to leave. So please consider others.

⚠️Congested corners(close to beach and Whirikino Boat ramp/Bridge) are SLOW Corners for safety of oncoming vessels and water users please. Be sure to abide by these limited areas.

⚠️SKI Lane further up river must be respected and you must give way and obey the waterway rules. I will remind you on the morning of these too.

Accomodation in Foxton Beach is plenty but book early. Otherwise Palmerston North is plenty or Levin too

⚠️ MANAWATŪ RIVER HAZARD ⚠️

No, you aren't suffering a case of déjà vu. Sadly, one of the cables at the historic Ōpiki bridge has fallen into the Manawatū River again 😔

It is the same cable which fell into the river in September 2023, but the issue is different. While the issue last time was with the bridge structure on the Manawatū District side, this time it's with the bridge structure on the Horowhenua District side.

🛑 Anyone who uses the awa for things like jetboating, canoeing and likewise should avoid the area. The last thing we want is for you to be harmed by the cable.

Just like last time, we're working to put signage up in the area to warn people of the hazard. We don't have a timeframe for when we'll be able to get the cable out of the water.

⬇️ Head to the comments to read a bit more about it. We'll also link to a video we made of when we pulled the cable out of the water in March 2024.
