22 Jungle Lane

22 Jungle Lane .22 Jungle lane is a full day of .22 rifle outdoor field shooting event with 30 shooting positions reactive targets. Targets may be set from 25-300 yards.

This shoot is fun. Also, the NZ Rifleman's Challenge, which is even more fun. Long Range Precision Shooting with a .22. This is a Field shoot with a difference. Yes, Something NEW in Shooting sports. You will be in a squad of four shooters, and each squad is responsible for their own Shooting, Scoring, Spotting and Range Officering. At each shooting position, you will take turns at each task, unti

l all squad members have shot. The squad then moves on to the next shooting position. You will have approximately 15 minutes at each position, plus 5 minutes to get to the next position. You will attempt to complete 3 positions per hour. All the targets are "Reactive" so there is no going forward to score or patch. All shooting will be done out to the Left side of the Jungle lane, so no on will need to leave the track.

I've just tried to make a video about how the rifleman's challenge is shot, the shooting is excellent but the video making is rubbish. But hopefully it'll give you an idea.

Youngsters can shoot from a bipod, adults get to shoot prone, unsupported. As many mags as you like, but maximum of 5 rounds in each mag. This is the man on man part of the competition, there is a precision event on paper targets which puts you into the ladder for the man on man.

Today our thoughts and prayers are with all people of all communities and religions everywhere, especially Christchurch. To be a terrorist one just needs to have a desire to hurt others. A terrorist can use a gun, or a knife, a car or truck, or a can of petrol. Or, as we recently saw at Gatwick, even a drone flying machine, or a 747 at the Twin Towers. They are all just tools which can be used to commit atrocities or to affect real people going about their everyday lives. I use fi****ms for sport and pleasure, just as I use knives in my kitchen to cook with, and a car to travel with. A knee jerk reaction to ban guns won't help solve the problem of having one group of people who hate another group. Change is needed. Social change! The competitions I run will continue to be for people who love life and love participating in competitive shooting. There is no room for hate in any of what we do. Sincerely, enrico hoover.

The 2019 Jungle lane and Rifleman's Challenge are done, both went extremely well, although numbers were lower than hoped. Maybe word of mouth will see a few more shooters next year. Full results in NZ Guns and Hunting in the next issue. Plus photos. I'll get some more pics up shortly. These few are from the rifleman's Challenge. Next years events will be the 4th weekend in February (22nd and 23rd).

.22 Jungle Lane setup is coming along nicely, still room for entries if you want to be part of this in 2019. Our Sponsors are Richard @ Serious Shooters, Nik @ NZ Guns and Hunting, Nelson @ Status Guns, Colin Nicol, knifemaker from Tapanui, ADI/ Thales from Australia. Here is the trophy the overall match winner will receive, suitably engraved with their name and date. This is handcrafted stainless steel, polished to a mirror finish, only one way in the world to get one of these. Don't forget the Rifleman's Challenge on Sunday, this is truly the most fun you can have with your pants on. Check out the Youtube video, Norwegia Stawody Strezlickie, its a 48 minute video clip, well worth watching. Our Rifleman's Challenge is the New Zealand version, more shooting, more fun.

Last chance to enter the 2019 events at discount prices. Video shows one of the jungle lane targets and a shooter trying to put a shot through a very generous 50mm square hole at 100 meters in a 60 kph wind. A shot through the hole activates a flashing light, you can see the misses hit the plate around the hole.

A jungle lane entry getting some sneaky practice, the targets at 100 meters, the rifle is an Anshutz .22, using CCI Std ammo, the wind from 4oclock to 10 oclock was averaging about 40kph, gusting to 60. The light flashes when a shot goes through the hole. Misses can be seen hitting the plate.

Who's up for a great day's shooting? Only one chance to do either the .22 Jungle Lane or the Rifleman's Challenge in 2019. The RC also has a .22 rimfire event next year, yes, scoped is OK. The last event was heaps of fun, and very spectator friendly.

Discount entries for the 2019 .22 Jungle Lane close at the end of December. If you're thinking of entering, now is the time to do it. The photos show the club house at the new Fortrose Shooting Sports Range, the home of the .22 Jungle Lane and Rifleman's Challenge. Also 3 Royal Southern Albatross that I saw sitting, about 1.5 km out to sea from the clubhouse deck (maximum zoom on the camera).

The 2019 .22 Jungle Lane will be held at Fortrose, Southland. I know it's a long way away for most of you, but how often will you get the opportunity to do this? Bring a friend, bring your child, what better way to bond with your teenager.

The 2018 Jungle lane and Rifleman's Challenge will again be at Mt Torlesse Station, 17th and 18th March. The rifleman's Challenge will also include a scoped .22 event. 2 classes, semi auto and everything else. All the same rules as for the centerfire RC, except bolt and other action types won't be restricted to mag capacity. So semi .22's will be restricted to 5 shots maximum in a mag, bolt guns and others can fill their mags, mainly because extra 22 mags can be hard to find for a lot of older guns. Only one opportunity to do this in 2018, everyone in 2016 and 2017 loved it, how long since you took a youngster shooting. Come on, have a go.
