Fairlie Ice Skating Rink A page to notify opening hours and other ice rink news. Where is the rink? The rink is located in the Fairlie Domain. Its directly behind the campground.

If you park and go through the white gates and head left, you'll see the yellow building which houses the skates. The rink is right behind this. How much does it cost? (cash only)
Student - Rink Charge $5 / Skate hire free
Adult - Rink charge $5 / Skate hire $5
Season tickets - Students $20 / Adult $30 / Family $50

ugh to provide thick ice on the rink, then it will open. Its run by volunteers so it also depends on them to be able to open up, thus the opening times are variable. It is hoped that opening times can be posted up on this page in advance.

Hi everyone, the ice is holding one or two smaller people but won't handle a crowd. We'll see what happens over the week and hopefully we won't loose too much ice.

Also, although not likely to be anyone on this page, we do have a family on CCTV throwing rocks onto the ice over the weekend. Luckily these were able to be retrieved before they froze into the ice, but it was a real shame to see this from adults who should know better.

Confirming the working bee is ON tomorrow, Sunday from 2pm.
Jobs include - cleaning windows inside and out, tidy up inside, scrub and remove moss and mud from the outside wooden boards, wheelbarrow the rocks away, trim some overhanging trees, scoop leaves from the rink and even clean the spouting.
If you have useful tools please bring these along, but just yourselves will be great too!

Hi supporters. This coming Sunday we aim to hold a working bee to get the building ship-shape and ready to use over the winter. Cleaning windows and dusting inside, and moss and mud cleaning on the boards outside.
We'll confirm this on Saturday, as it will be weather dependant. Check back here for any updates :)

From the personal collection of Fairlie local and ice hockey player, Dick Guard, it documents the origins of the rink.
Great timing as it shows the 75th anniversary will be next year! Perhaps some celebrations are in order...
I also wonder if anyone can shed light on what a 'Queen Carnival' was like?

As well as featuring on the back page of this week's Fairlie Accessible, the rink gets a mention in the Courier also.

Morning! Ice is holding up really well, the rink will open from 9am till about lunch time or when the volunteers need to leave :) There may be an evening session depending on conditions.
