But had a very special visitor on the training ground to say hello this morning!
It’s always fantastic to see Sophie! Even if only to say hi. Just really nice to see her and have a photo with Ava!

Well done Ava!!

Congratulations Ava on her sporting success of recent!

Ava is a very talented girl in many sports! Even the sport on the dark side lol 😂
Ava picked up the golden boot for her NP rangers CDL team this season, scoring 21 goals.
Our training session work on moments in the game that Ava can get herself into position to score or set someone up.
Ava puts in a lot of work and it shows in her game! She scores goals, creates opportunities and always trying to be creative when she is attacking with the ball.

Ava also represented South Taranaki in the Michaela Blyde Rugby Tournament (North vs South) she did her thing got stuck in and gave her all! ( my rugby knowledge is very limited 😂) while im a little gutted to have missed watching her play because I was away.
As usual Ava contributed to her team’s performance with the boot score points by converting the tries in the 34-30 and 29-28 wins they had.

Well done Ava. As usual you just get involved, give it your all and push yourself to be better!!

🏆Champion🏆

Congratulations to Sophie and her West Coast Rangers team on winning the Northern League Championship for 2025.

Proud of Sophie and her achievements in such a tough league.
And it went all the way to the last game of the year to get the win!!

WCR had already secured their place in the 2025 National League, so still more games to go.

Well done Sophie and team on a fantastic season and all the best for the National League.

Last session today with this cool kid!!
Really enjoy working with Ava.
It's definitely a different moment within the game for me. Having spent so long doing just goalkeeping and having one focus.

Ava is a great little player. Keen learner, highly entertaining, really tries her best every time she comes in for training.
Gives everything a go even if it doesn’t always work the best for her she always learning to be better.

The 1 on 1 training has definitely helped her improve her overall game.
From learning the roles within positions, to different situations she will come across in the game and how she can potentially solve those problem she will face.
Scoring goals regularly has been good, even tho the last few weeks been a little lean on goals, she still trying to put herself in position to score more.

Looking forward to teaming up with Ava again next year and helping her improve her game some more.
Till then ⚽️🥅👏

On the road again. Football away days!

For years I followed Sophie around the country watching her play. Watched Sophie play in New Plymouth, Wanganui, Palmy, Wellington and Hamilton ( need to get to a game in Auckland and South Island next)

Now it’s Ava turn. I say to people, support is more than just talking and bouncing ideas off.
Support is making sure the player knows you are there helping them.
Seeing them play, taking on how they play and giving feedback.

It’s so important to me to be at Ava’s games. And while I can’t be at them all I do make a big effort to be at most games no matter where they are.

It’s important for me to see things happen in the game that I can help her in training with or remind her about from past training to apply to games.

I applied the same philosophy to Sophie and now Ava gets the same support.

Well done Ava. 2 games 2 goals and played well. Onto training ground next!

While Sophie was home, i got to do some training with her.

I had forgotten what the trips to New Plymouth were like after work and late night return trips.
But was nice to be on the grass with Sophie again.
While we didn’t do a lot it was cool to be able to just get out on the grass serve a few balls.
Ava returned the favor to Sophie for coming along and watching her play, so Ava helped Sophie with training.

In All honesty I do miss training with Sophie, but I am pleased she has got a good team to play for and gets consistent training to help her development .

Probably the pleasing thing about her playing in Auckland is that she gets the exposure to a higher quality of players to play and train against, higher levels of coaching that comes with playing in top league .

The reality i see now having time to reflect and think about the things we did .
Sophie out grew what we were doing and really needed to be in a team environment more often . The hardest part was our geographical location ( Taranaki is so isolated)

But we made do with what we had and did our best to help Sophie and at the end of the day . Helping her was what it was all about!

Beautiful morning here in the Naki for football this morning.
Super special guest today out to watch Ava play!
So cool to see Sophie when she home.
It’s such a privilege to be able to support her follow her dreams and be apart of her journey.

Sometimes it’s the small things in life that make the biggest impact!
In 2017 I loaned my Erin Nayler top to Sophie , thinking this could give her some motivation to go and get her own!
2025 roles around and Erin shirt returns and will go on the wall next to Sophie shirt!!

These prized possessions will stay together forever !

Team mates together made this dream become reality!!
