I’ve been a little quiet on social media over the past few weeks 🤍
2025 ended with some unexpected health challenges for my whānau, and as a result, I’ve made the decision to take a step back from business for now.
I’m not sure what the future holds for her.pilates, but I’m not placing pressure on the outcome. Instead, I’m choosing to trust the process.
Although 2025 didn’t end as I expected, it was filled with so many beautiful moments. Being in the studio never once felt like work. Teaching Pilates to such incredible people has been an absolute privilege. It was never just about movement — the genuine, authentic connections formed week after week were so special, and I was always in awe of the way our little community supported one another.
For now, it’s time for me to step back into my most important role — being a māmā 🤍
I’ll share updates about her.pilates as they arise. Until then, thank you for your love and understanding 🙏🏼✨

The term “Pilates” is often misunderstood.
Pilates studios and in particular, Reformer Pilates have increased dramatically over the last few years - and for good reason. Trust me, this isn’t a phase… it’s a way of life!

So what really is Pilates?
Pilates is a low-impact exercise method developed by a man named Joseph in the early 20th century. He designed the first reformer bed to rehabilitate soldiers in WW1!
Mat Pilates uses body weight while Reformer Pilates uses the same principals on a particular machine where different resistance and support can be utilised.

This practice focuses on controlled movements, flexibility, and strengthening the entire body, with a strong emphasis on the deep core muscles. There’s good reason why this form of movement is so widely recommended by exercise professional’s 👏🏼

Pilates also has a mind body connection which focuses on the breath - this encourages clarity and reduces stress levels which is vital for living in such a busy and loud world. How often are we existing but not truely present!?

There are many studios offering a variation of different styles of Pilates. Find that special studio or online practise that aligns with you and delve into the magic. Whether it becomes your main form of movement or an addition to your current training regime… you won’t be disappointed (but definitely addicted) 💪🏽🪄

The guidelines for exercise during a low risk pregnancy and the postpartum period have evolved immensely over the years. It’s such an exciting and privileged population to be supporting through movement and in my area specifically - Reformer Pilates.

I recently completed further education in this area through Unite Health (The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) which is Australia’s leading provider of Pilates Instructor Certification.

As a mother of two, this space holds a very special place in my heart ♥️

I couldn’t be more excited to continue to support this very special population through safe and effective movement.

Let’s talk diaphragm breathing 🌬️

Diaphram breathing is a form of breathing used to support the regulation of the nervous system 🧘🏽‍♀️
Due to the fast phased world we live in, we often find ourselves shallow breathing without even realising, which can make us feel anxious, stressed and exhausted.

Pilates connects movement with this type of breathing. We inhale through the nose, fill the belly and expand the ribcage - followed by a slow exhale breath through the mouth. Interconnecting movement and this breathing sequence allows a deep mind + body connection. It encourages you to be present in movement, helps engage and stabilise the abdominals and supports the nervous system.

Mind + body connection. This is where the magic resides 🧚‍♂️✨🍂

IMPORTANT UPDATE
HER.PILATES to remain temporarily closed.

HER.PILATES was officially opening tomorrow (Monday 15th January) which we were so excited about!

Unfortunately, there has been an issue with temperature control in the studio (not the cafe).

Rikki (owner of AlltheSands Coffee) and I have worked tirelessly to ensure the space met health and safety guidelines. However, our final attempt today has been unsuccessful. Due to the spike in temperature and skylights above the machines, the heat in the studio even with air conditioning, is unsafe to run classes.

As devastating as this is your safety is our top priority.

I am currently working on the studios next steps and will provide you with an update ASAP.

To those of you who booked classes, thank you so much for your support. I will be in contact this afternoon.

To Rikki, I can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support! 🤍 it’s been an absolute pleasure to work alongside you during this short period and I look forward to my admin/coffee dates in your beautiful space!

To my clients - Thank you for your continued support 💐 I am incredibly sorry and totally guttered for this outcome but I can assure you HER.PILATES will be up and running soon.
