Thank you to those who joined me for yesterday’s Barre Technique Workshop.
It was so much fun to slow things down, break down movements, workshop posture, talk about breath and the nervous system, and explore the “why” behind what we do in class. I loved seeing those little lightbulb moments when a cue landed differently or a movement suddenly made more sense.
More than anything, it was special to simply be together – to ask questions, share experiences, learn from one another, and spend a morning in community. Thank you for trusting me to guide the conversation.
One thing that really struck me was how valuable these conversations are for us as teachers, too. Hearing what movements feel confusing, what cues don’t quite land, or what concepts people are still trying to make sense of gives us such important feedback. It helps us understand where we can explain things differently, offer a new perspective, or find a cue that resonates more clearly. The learning very much goes both ways, and I truly believe it helps us grow into better teachers.
On a personal note, this workshop really filled my cup. Since becoming a mum, there have been moments where I’ve felt disconnected from parts of myself. I think many mothers will understand that feeling of being so immersed in caring for someone else that you temporarily lose touch with some of what you know, what you’re capable of, and even parts of who you are.
Yesterday reminded me how much I love teaching, movement, learning, problem-solving, and helping people better understand their bodies. I left feeling energised, inspired, and deeply grateful. So, thank you for helping me reconnect with that side of myself again too.
Our next workshop will run on Sunday 2nd August, 9–11am.
Every workshop is valuable, regardless of where you’re at in your movement journey. I had so much more on my list yesterday that we didn’t get to (two hours truly flies), and there is always more to learn, explore and unpack. So if you want to come along again, you can expect a fresh discussion!
