We want to give a massive shout out to , our newest Team Rider. Rocco is a super talented and focused grommet on the rise, hailing from the our favourite part of the world, the Catlins! But most importantly, Rocco is an outstanding example of good manners, gratitude, respect and humble hard work.

To say thank you in his own way, he weaved a kete, picked the eggs, bought the local honey from his neighbour, and commissioned custom wool vest made by another neighbour for Arthur. All of which was his own efforts and $$.

So, you can see why we were all stoked two weeks ago when the special moment came to welcome Roc into the Hydro whānau officially, gifting him the prestigious Team Rider kit. Our staff all really enjoy Rocco’s energy, good manners and enthusiasm. Not to mention his great surfing. Sponsorship is a special thing for us to share, and Rocco confessed it had long been a dream for him to make the Hydro Team; like many of the great surfers in the South. 🙌

To be totally honestly, Leroy said he always knew this day would come; “I’ve had the opportunity to see a lot of groms come through the ranks and I could tell when I met Rocco, he ‘had it’… Not the surfing (not yet), that would come in time, he had the spark inside. And he’s such a good kid. We’ve been watching him grow and develop as a person and a surfer, waiting for the right time, and now he’s showed he’s there. Looking forward to seeing what he can continue to achieve!”
