Vacancy – Greenkeeper

Otago Golf Club is one of New Zealand’s most iconic and historic golf clubs, widely regarded as the home of golf in New Zealand. With a proud heritage dating back to 1871, the Club continues to evolve while maintaining the high standards expected by its members and visitors.

With the upcoming Interprovincial tournament scheduled for December 2026 and continued investment in the course, this is an exciting time to join our greenkeeping team and contribute to the ongoing development and presentation of one of the country’s premier courses.

*About the role*
We are seeking a motivated Greenkeeper to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role working 40 hours per week, including rostered weekend work, as part of a small and dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional playing conditions year-round.

*Requirements*
Experience working in a sports turf environment
Relevant turf management qualification (preferred)
Growsafe certification, or willingness to obtain
Full and current driver’s licence
Availability to work 40 hours per week, including rostered weekends
Sound knowledge of Health and Safety best practice in a greenkeeping environment

*Skills and attributes*
Ability to work both independently and within a small team
Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to team culture
Good communication skills
Playing golf is an advantage
New Zealand residency

Why wouldn’t you want to play for these 2 cups. Life members trophy and Toro cup won by some very talented turf managers and golfers. … won’t say who but … if your a member drop your winter tools and get to Winton GC! Hi all, life members golf day is on the 12th of August at Winton GC. More info to follow.

Some people will be staying in Invercargill afterwards so will be plenty of time to catch up etc, rsvp to this or via email cheers!

Max number of 32 persons at one time. Cost $40 per person (Current financial members will be subsidised from STMA by $20. Running shoes only, no work boots or jandals. If more than 32 wish to participate, we may half the 2 hour time available if required. We will know numbers closer to the time.
Please RSVP by Monday 12th May, the first 32 to reply will be given preference.

Applicants should have:
• Turf qualifications
• GrowSafe certification (current or expired).
• Work experience and reference(s) in the turf industry, preferably from a golf course(s).
• Physical fitness and capability ability to work in variety weather conditions.
• Be a team player and have passion and interest for the game of golf.

Remuneration package will be based on experience and skill level to fit the role required.
