❄️ Winter Sports Are Back! 🏉🏐⛷️
With winter sport season underway across the Selwyn region, many people are returning to the field, court, and mountains. Whether you're playing rugby, netball, or heading away for a ski trip, these activities place significant physical demands on the body.
At Darfield Physio and Gym, we regularly see winter sports injuries such as ankle sprains, knee injuries, muscle strains, shoulder injuries, and lower back pain. These injuries can occur from sudden changes in direction, contact during play, falls, or simply from the body not being fully prepared for the intensity of the season.
Physiotherapy plays an important role in both recovery and injury prevention. Our physiotherapists provide thorough assessments to understand the cause of the injury, followed by tailored treatment that may include hands-on therapy, mobility work, and progressive strengthening exercises.
A key part of successful rehabilitation is rebuilding strength and confidence before returning to sport. One of the advantages of our clinic is that we have a fully equipped rehabilitation gym on-site. This allows us to guide patients through structured exercise programs and sport-specific training in a safe and supportive environment.
Our goal is not just to treat injuries, but to help people return to the activities they enjoy feeling stronger and more resilient.
If you’re dealing with a sports injury, lingering pain, or want advice on preparing your body for the winter season, our team at Darfield Physio and Gym is here to help.
Stay active, stay strong, and enjoy the winter season safely
