πŸ‘ GIRLS 1st XI HOCKEY UPDATE πŸ‘

Our Girls 1st XI Hockey team is off to a fantastic start in the Secondary Schools Wednesday afternoon competition! After securing two great wins in their grading games, the team earned a well-deserved spot in Division 2, a great achievement in itself.

We are now three games into the round-robin, sitting right in the middle of the table with one win, one loss, and one draw.

This week, the girls faced off against Rangi Ruru in an incredibly close, evenly-matched battle. Rangi took an early 1-0 lead in the first quarter, but Lavinia Burrows answered back in the second, hitting one home to level the scores! After a tense, scoreless third quarter, the magic happened in the final frame. Poppy Molloy flicked two spectacular goals past the Rangi goalkeeper to seal the deal! A special shoutout to Poppy, who is brand new to hockey this year and has fitted into the squad seamlessly. 🌟

The team is working hard and building momentum as they look ahead to their Winter Tournament in Blenheim in late August/early September.

All the best, girls, for the remainder of the Canterbury Secondary Schools Competition! We are all backing you!

Great to notch up a second win on the trot. Boys have a bye this weekend (well timed for the long weekend I must say!).
