IN THE MONEY THIS WEEK

What a difference a week makes - from nothing last week to 4 winners this week!!

Bryan Burrows’ Mystery started the ball rolling at Tuncurry (NSW) last Monday when Grassburn, a 6 year old mare by Per Incanto out of Turf Fire (a half-sister to Mystery) won over 1000 metres

The Dormer Family’s string had 2 close relatives in the money at Riccarton last Wednesday. Firstly AJ (reg’d name Blue Rodeo) had a half-brother record his first win when Call To Arms, a 5 year old gelding by War Decree out of High Jinks (the mother of AJ) was successful over 1400 metres. Later on the same program Wonky had a half-brother enjoy some success when Correction, a 7 year old gelding by War Decree out of Madam Courtney ran second over 1600 metres

Charlie Somerville’s Gus (reg’d name Getshorty) had a family member in the money at Cambridge on Friday when Force Of Law, a 5 year old gelding by War Decree out of Back Date (a half-sister to Gus) finished 3rd over 1300 metres

Charlie Wood’s B2 (reg’d name Small Mercies) had a close relative find the winner’s circle at Riccarton on Saturday when Beaver Fever, a 6 year old mare by Wrote out of Chispa De La Vida (a half-sister to Lucky Return the mother of B2) won over1400 metres

Ang Norrie’s Tango (reg’d name Tango Love) had a close relative enjoy success at Wanganui on Saturday when The Finnster, an 8 year old gelding by Vadamos out of Charleston Girl won over 2040 metres

The Turner Family’s Dee Dee (reg’d name Ready To Rock) had a half-brother record his first win at just his 4th start when The Magician, a 5 year old gelding by Eminent out of Muscal Magic was successful over 1340 metres at Wanganui on Saturday. Musical Magic had 8 named foals, all of whom made it to the races with The Magician being her 6th winner

John Cottier who has been a supporter of the Amuri Polo Club in years gone by and also with having 2 sons, Hamish and Dougal play for the club at different times, has sadly passed away on the 11th August aged 92. The club would like to offer Margaret and the Cottier family our sincere sympathy at this sad time.

Are you Under 21?? Nominations called for NZ U21 v USA in January 2027.

Nominations are being called for two New Zealand UNDER 21 Test Teams.

The USA through the Polo Training Foundation are bringing a team to New Zealand in January for two games, one in the South Island and one in the North.

The fixtures are scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, 6th January 2027, Amuri Polo Club, South Island

Friday, 8th Janary 2027 – Auckland Polo Club, North Island

Please nominate yourself for these self mounted games by the 25th August 2026 at www.polo.org.nz your nomination will be confirmed by email. Players must be under 21 on the date of the game.

IN THE MONEY THIS WEEK

Bryan Burrows’ Mystery had a close relative in the money across the ditch on Friday when Grassburn, a 6 year old mare by Per Incanto out of Turf Fire (a half-sister to Mystery) ran 3rd over 1000metres at Taree (NSW)

James Meyer's Fomo (reg’d name High Maintenance) had a family member enjoy some success at New Plymouth on Saturday when Kay’s Ruebe, a 5 year old mare by Almanzor out of Kay’s Awake (a half-sister to Kay’s Legacy the mother of Fomo) finished 3rd over 1800 metres. Although yet to win a race Kay’s Ruebe has now chalked up 10 placings from 13 starts.
