Last Game of the Season 🏏

Lancaster Park Gold faced Southern District Cricket Club in their final game of the season in a thrilling contest.

SDCC won the toss and elected to bowl first. On a challenging batting pitch, LPG put up a solid total of 212 runs. Randika Dissanayake led the innings brilliantly with 65 runs, while Thusitha Ubeysinghe added a valuable 50. Once again, this dependable duo built a crucial partnership when the team needed it most. Chandi Hewawitharana also contributed with a steady 29 runs.

In response, SDCC were restricted to just 108 runs, thanks to an excellent bowling performance. Rasika Thilakaratne starred with 4 wickets, while Nuwan Wijesuriya supported well with 3 wickets.

Asked to follow on the next day, SDCC faced a relentless bowling attack. Aravind Singh Negi was simply unstoppable, claiming an incredible 7 wickets, while Nuwan Wijesuriya picked up another 3. The pair dominated from both ends, not giving any opportunity to other bowlers, and wrapped up the game in style.

Aravind Singh Negi was deservedly named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, dismantling the SDCC batting lineup.

🏆 Lancaster Park Gold Roar Again! 🏆

Fresh off their T20 Championship victory, Lancaster Park Gold faced Hornby Division II in an exciting two-day encounter and what a match it turned out to be!

LPG won the toss and elected to field first. Hornby put up a strong fight, setting a challenging target of 268 runs. In batting SP Multani scored a century for Hornby team. In bowling Nuwan and Rasika led the bowling attack brilliantly, claiming two wickets each.

In reply, LPG battled hard, posting 228 runs. Chandi top-scored with a solid 62, while Randika added a valuable 38.

Trailing by 39 runs in the second innings, LPG came back with determination and fight. The bowlers stepped up once again, dismissing Hornby for 153. Nuwan and Rasika were outstanding, sharing three wickets each this time.

Chasing 193 in 42 overs, LPG found themselves under pressure at 74/4. But Thusitha and Rasika had other plans! The pair produced a match-winning unbeaten partnership of 121 runs. Thusitha finished on 68*, and Rasika on 57*, guiding the team home in just 35 overs.

🏏 New Record Alert! 🏏

Last Saturday, Lancaster Park Gold faced the Sumner Division 2 team in an exciting encounter at Lancaster Park. The first day was washed out due to rain, but the second day delivered a thrilling contest.

LPG won the toss and elected to bat first. Randika Dissanayaka played a magnificent innings, scoring an unbeaten 125* with 18 fours. He was brilliantly supported by Thusitha Ubeyasinghe, who scored 77 runs including 8 fours and 1 six.

The partnership between these two was outstanding 191 runs, which is now the highest partnership ever for Lancaster Park Gold for any wicket.

LPG declared their innings at 242/4. Chasing this target was never going to be easy, as Rasika Thilakaratne and Aravind Negi picked up 3 wickets each. Despite the pressure, Sumner managed to reach 123/8, and the match ended in a draw.

🏆 Lancaster Park Gold win the T20 Championship 🏆

Hard work truly paid off as Lancaster Park Gold lifted the T20 Championship for the first time!

In the semi-final against Halswell Lankan Lions, LPG chose to bat first and posted a competitive 140 runs. A valuable partnership between Ishan and Thusitha steadied the innings, with Thusitha playing a crucial knock of 41 runs. Randika and Sujith provided solid support, contributing 28 runs each.
While chasing, Halswell Lankan Lions got a promising start through Akila and Sudewa, but the momentum shifted when Yasir produced a match winning spell, taking 5 wickets. Rasika and Aravind chipped in with 2 wickets each, bowling All out for 113 runs and giving LPG a 27 run victory.

The final was an all Lancaster Park encounter between Lancaster Park Lions and Lancaster Park Gold. LPG once again chose to bat first and scored 135 runs. Chandi anchored the innings with a vital 53 runs, while Rasika added 21 runs.
Defending the total, LPG delivered an outstanding bowling performance, led by a sensational spell from Nuwan, who ripped through the batting lineup with 4 wickets for just 6 runs, completely turning the game in LPG’s favor. The Lions were bowled out well short of the target, as LPG sealed a dominant 57-run win to claim the title.

Last Saturday, LPG took on Riccarton, who won the toss and opted to bowl first. Our innings saw Randika Disanayaka smash 39 runs, while Sijith Reddy contributed 28 runs and srikanth toomula 21 runs setting a strong target of 153 runs for 20 overs. In response, Riccarton lost two early wickets, but Liam Sullivan's aggressive batting earned him 22 runs. However, LPG's bowlers managed to contain them, dismissing them for 130 runs with 8 wickets down in 20 overs, securing a 23 - run victory for LPG. Yasir Amin delivered a brilliant bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs, while Randika Dissanayake provided outstanding support with 4 overs for 8 runs. Nasir Amin was named Man of the Match.

Last Saturday, LPG faced marist Everest. Mariest everest won the toss and chose to bowl first. During our innings, srikaanth toomula smashed 55 runs ,And Harshana Nanayakkara scored his career best a solid 89 runs not out .

Towards the end of the innings, Randika Disanayake scored 36 runs,helping LPG reach a competitive total of 236.

In the second innings, mariest everest lost their first two wickets early. However, Ajay Shrestha played an exceptional knock of 108 runs, while Raj Kimar added a brilliant 44 guiding them past the target with their 4 wicket in hand.

In the bowling attack, Randika Dissanayake’ (2 wickets )and Nuwan Nilantha (1 wicket ) delivered an outstanding spell.
Man of the match is Harshana Nanayakkara for his brilliant knock of 89 runs.
