Salty air, sunset walks, and a reminder to breathe it all in (even if that means catching a bit of your own hair in the wind).

Notice what you see today on your walks…the walk around the block, the walk around the office, the walk from your car, wherever you walk today…notice.

Grateful to live by the sea and get some fresh air as the light fades.

Shift your gaze today.

Even the most familiar ground holds unexpected texture. Seeing the sand like this took me straight back to making papier-mâché as a child.

When we walk mindfully, we change our relationship with our environment.

Look closely at where you choose to step today. It might look, or feel, entirely different from the norm.

Connect with your stability. Notice the earth beneath you.

Celebrating International Yoga Day

Moving through 108 Sun Salutations to mark the 12th annual International Yoga Day. I completed this practice as part of a virtual online session hosted by the team at Kindred Studio

The global theme for this year is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”is a reminder that this practice is a lifelong companion.

It is not about executing advanced postures, but about building a practice that supports long-term mobility, functional strength, and mental clarity through every season of life.

You do not need to move through 108 rounds to honour this day or support your long-term well-being.

Whether it is a single mindful breath, a gentle stretch, or a full class, the most important step is simply showing up for yourself on the mat.

How are you moving your body or finding stillness today?

Thank you Kindred Studio

A couple of hours of polymer clay crafting after work with friends.

I put these little treat boxes together to add a touch of colour to our evening.

Inside the striped gift boxes, we shared sweet treats and happily called our catch up “creative chatter”.

We spent time moulding miniature potted plants, focusing on a tactile, grounding activity away from our usual routines.

Creating space for connection, shared laughter, and simple hobbies (including new ones!) is an essential part of keeping our own reserves full.

How do you choose to wind down after a busy week? How do you nurture your social connections?

Wise Ways Wednesday: Find stability amidst the chop.

Look at the sea in this photo. The water is moving chaotically and is churning around. When our external environment or internal thoughts feel like a rough sea, it’s an opportunity to tune in to our anchor points.

In Pilates and Yoga, stability does not mean staying rigid. It means knowing exactly where your foundation is so you can adapt to the movement around you.

Notice where you are grounded right now. Feel the parts of your body in contact with the floor, your chair, or the earth. Let your solid foundation be one of your anchors while everything else moves around you.

Finding space, anywhere.

In a former property I lived in, before I was lucky enough to establish a dedicated practice studio at home, my mat found its spot right in the middle of the tiled entryway floor.

A dedicated room is not a requirement for movement. You only need enough floor space to lay down a mat and the willingness to tune in.

Where do you roll out your mat when space is tight?

Mindful Movement Monday: Te Wiki Hauora Tāne

This image asks a vital question for Men’s Health Week (Te Wiki Hauora Tāne, June 15-21).

True mobility is about how we maintain and care for our bodies.

Use Mindful Movement Monday to reset, focus on physical longevity, and encourage the men in our community to prioritise their wellbeing.

Of course, this doesn’t have be an exclusive focus on the men out there, everyone can be called to consider their movement and what small habits could make a big difference in their lives.

Here are a few ways our Wave Wellness CREST principles can support -

* Core & Stability: Building a strong centre helps protects your lower back and keeps you moving safely, whether you are on the mat, at work, or out in the garden.

* Respiration: Intentional, rhythmic breathing is one of the most effective tools for reducing stress, managing blood pressure, and resetting a busy mind.

* Elongation: Actively creating space in the spine counters the compression caused by hours of sitting at a desk or driving.

* Timing: Taking small, consistent steps with physical activity and healthy thinking goes a long way toward long-term health.

Learning the art of making a lampshade.

This workshop was such a satisfying one and a good reminder of the importance of staying open to new experiences and refusing to get stuck in our ways.

This project started as a flat piece of beautiful embroidered, coastal fabric and transformed into a calm new feature for my coastal home.

Toasted with a perfect way to celebrate a weekend of slow, focused crafting.

Creating space for new hobbies keeps the mind sharp and the spirit open.

Try something tactile this weekend.

thanks BASTION HOME for helping me choose and for supplying the fabric
