The 2025/26 Winter Ringers Competition attracted no new participants this week with the total at 42 entered so far. Don't miss out on this FUN competition that runs for another 10 rounds as you try to achieve your best gross score on each individual hole with the weekly rounds counting down to the final week in late August 2026. Put your name down on the Ringers Entry sheet in the Pro Shop this Saturday(s) and pay your $10 entry fee. Any qualifying round played prior to entry fee being paid will be included. If you start having a few bad holes during your round, all is not lost as you can refocus on the holes left and bettering the best carded scores on them.
After the completion of Round 3, Greg Carr (32.400) has overtaken the lead on the overall Leaderboard, moving up 8 places on 56.600 ahead of Robert Tibbotts (12.033) who retains second on 57.967, a margin of 1.367 separating them. Peter Marsh (33.900) is next in third place on 58.100, a narrow margin of 0.133 from second. With Alan Wicks (17.700) continuing to hold fourth position on 58.300 and Ross Wills (29.100) improving 7 places to fifth on 58.900. Some of the biggest movers after the round were Gordon McCoy (23.600) up 17 places to ninth, Charlie Longley (14.200) up 13 places to eleventh, Iain Findlater (11.933) up 11 places to seventeenth, Richard Maguire (8.333) up 10 places to twenty-fourth and Alan Smith (30.150) up 13 paces to twenty-seventh.
There are currently 41 competitors who are under net par after the third round, the leaderboard will change dramatically over the coming weeks and the narrowing of the range of net scores as the field compresses.
There were 20 birdies or better recorded last week, with the highlights being the round of 79 carded by Angus Tucker (5.8) off the Blue tees which included 13 pars and a double-bogey on Hole # 11. Close behind was Graham Free who shot an 80 which included 8 pars 2 birdies and a double -bogey. There are now four eagles carded by the field in after the third round , with the Chris Choie holing his approach shot on Hole # 2. That his second after his Hole-In-One feat last week on Hole # 17. Congratulations again Chris!!!
Spencer Wicks (2.300) leads the birdies or better statistics with a tally of an 7 birdies, followed by Mel Newburn (5.4) and Mal Ashton (7.900) with an eagle and 4 birdies each, with Chris Choie (15.6) next with 2 eagles and a birdie.
There are 25 (59.52%) players so far, to have to registered bogey or better on every hole.
The hardest ranked holes determined by the numbers of birdies or better carded after Round 3, is still Hole # 9 with no birdies recorded by the Ringers field. The next hardest hole is Hole # 18 with only one birdie recorded, followed by Holes # 5,10 and 11 with 2 birdies each. The easiest hole has been Hole # 1 with 14 birdies or better by different players. The next easiest is Hole # 14 with 7 birdies or better by different players. This is followed by Holes # 3, 7, 13 and 17 with 6 birdies each.
