CWA 2025/2026 Prize-Giving this Sunday is shaping up to be the place to be!

Join us as we celebrate the season with award presentations, memorable highlights, and a relaxed evening in great company.

And of course, Andrea’s cuisine alone is worth coming out for !

A big thank you to NZ BOARDSTORE for generously providing some fantastic spot prizes, and Bacon Bros Brewing for supplying beers and Dam Good Water for refreshments. There’ll also be the chance to win your membership subscription for next season!

Saturday delivered a great day for the CWA Canterbury Champs, with a strong fleet of windsurfers and wingfoilers taking to the water.

The first challenge of the day was actually getting to the start line, with a teasing breeze and a strong incoming tide making things interesting. Once the wind filled in, race officers Annie and Sean set the course on the far side of the harbour and got the first of four heats underway. Three more closely contested heats followed, with some great racing across the fleet.

The day wrapped up perfectly with a BBQ on shore, along with beers, cider, and kombucha - a great way to finish a fun day of racing and good company.

Autumn CWA Gathering 2026– Lake Clearwater

Despite an ominous forecast heading into last weekend’s Autumn CWA Gathering, Lake Clearwater delivered three excellent days of sailing conditions and plenty of time on the water.

Friday evening felt like a bonus session for the foilers, with riders making the most of a late breeze. The momentum carried into Saturday, which provided a full day on the water. Windsurfers were also keen to get involved, although they needed a little patience while waiting for the easterly breeze to settle in more consistently.

Once it did, the lake came alive with a mix of wings, windsurfers and a kite joined the action.

Sunday morning threatened to bring a stronger southerly, but the surrounding hills did their job and seemed to buffer much of the blast, allowing riders to sneak in more time on the water.

Across the weekend there was a great mix of shared skills, plenty of time experimenting with gear, and long sessions up the top end of the lake — particularly from Babs and Derek, who made the most of the conditions.

Just as importantly, the gathering offered plenty of relaxed time on the lakeside, catching up with like-minded people and enjoying the great atmosphere that makes these events special.

All in all, it was another memorable CWA event at Lake Clearwater — proof that sometimes the forecast doesn’t tell the full story.

At the request of CWA - CCC is displaying these at Naval Point when events may impact water quality.

They’re not restricting water use — just providing information so you can make an informed choice

🌤️ The Gathering - Weekend at Lake Clearwater! 🌄

Join us on Friday 27th Feb - Sunday 1st March 2026 for the CWA Autumn weekend in the Canterbury High Country!

🏕️ Camping:
Basic camping available — $10 per night per vehicle (cash only).

No shop facilities beyond Mt Somers & No dogs permitted around the lakes 🐕

🌬️ High Country weather = come prepared for anything!

Whether you’re come for the full weekend or just a day-trip, it’s a great opportunity to catch up, meet new faces, and enjoy the fresh High Country breezes. The hall is not available, so bring your own food and drinks, impromptu gatherings will no doubt occur around the campground post water and mountain fun.

Relax, catch up, and enjoy the views. See you there!
