Vikings Swim Club

Vikings Swim Club Vikings Swim Club is a focused, welcoming club where all swimmers receive targeted coaching. Our swimmers range in age from 9 to 20 years.

All squads are overseen and coached by Head Coach George Long, ensuring consistency and quality technique across every stroke. Vikings Swim Club was established in 2013 to provide a pathway for talented swimmers from Kings Swim School into the world of competitive swimming. Coached by Head Coach Marco Troiani and Assistant Coach Eliana Toriani, the club is a junior & senior club and is now in a growth phase. We currently have two main squads — Junior and Senior — with a Competition Squad created for targeted training in the lead-up to major events. Our team philosophy is an extension of Kings Swim School’s: learning to grow through competitive swimming. We are about having fun and encouraging everyone to achieve his or her full potential as a swimmer and as a person. Every swimmer's achievements are equally significant and we are just as proud of our have-a-go swimmers as we are of our national champion. We are very fortunate to have a great group of coaches, swimmers and parents involved who are positive, dedicated and enthusiastic and building a fantastic team culture. We are based at Kings Swim School, 218a Main South Road and attend local, regional and some national meets.

🏊‍♀️ Woweee - 46 Vikings swimmers are heading to the Selwyn Spring Classic at Selwyn Aquatic Centre this weekend!

This is the largest number of Vikings swimmers ever attending a meet - how awesome is that! 💙💛

We have some new swimmers joining us for their first ever competitive meet - a BIG good luck to you all! Enjoy it, take it all in and have fun!

Thank you to our coaches, George Long and Hannah Sutherland, who will be supporting our swimmers throughout this meet, and to Todd Mason, who will be joining the coaching team on Saturday.

Thank you too to our team managers, volunteers, timekeepers, Vikings representative officials and trainee IOTs. We really appreciate everyone giving up their time to support our swimmers and club. These meets don’t happen without everyone pitching in!

Have fun, swim fast and cheer loudly for your squad mates!

💙💛 SISC 2026 💙💛

What a jam-packed weekend of racing at the South Island Short Course Championships in Dunedin!

Three big days of swimming with heats, finals, PBs, tough races, resilience, learning and plenty of team spirit along the way.

A huge thank you to George for being there and supporting the team throughout the whole weekend, and to our team managers for helping our swimmers get to their heats and finals and keeping everything running smoothly across all three days.

We’re proud of the effort, commitment and support shown by our Vikings team.

With our 9 Vikings swimmers and George heading to Dunedin for the South Island Short Course Championships, there are a few adjustments to our training timetable from Thursday.

We’re so proud of all our swimmers who stepped up on the blocks at the North Canterbury Ribbon + Have a Go Meet last weekend! 💙🏊

Everyone gave it their all, raced hard and, most importantly, had a heap of fun!

A big thank you to our coach Hannah for your time, encouragement, pep talks and for helping our newer swimmers find their feet and enjoy their races.

Ethan Cook, Hudson Vertogen, George Bellamy and Sophie Cameron from Kings Swim School also gave the Have a Go a go and did really well. It was great to see them giving racing a go!

And of course, thank you to our team managers Yvette and Yvonne, along with all the timekeepers and officials who helped out on the day. These meets don’t happen without all the people behind the scenes giving their time and support.
